PLEASE HELP!

I''m going insane. Please help to calm me down. here''s a little background on me. I''m impatient, not good with anticipation and absolutely hate surprises with a passion. So. . .I have this gut feeling that my boyfriend has bought the ring. I swear. I don''t know where i get this idea from but. . . I dunno. Examples (sleuth work haha): I called him last night before my midterm to say hi and asked what he was up to and he said he was running errands. I was like, "that''s good." So later that night i asked him if he picked anything up on his errands and he said, "oh. . i went to see a friend." and I''m like, "oh. anyone i know?" and then he tells me he went to see his buddy because his girlfriend broke up with him. . . Now. . .you have to understand. . .we LIVE together and NEVER use the phrase "errands." It''ll be like, "i''m picking up kitty litter." or "I''m going to visit one of my car buddies." It''s just too strange. Also. . . i mention the difference that cut makes on a diamond because of a picture i saw and he said that he knows because he was looking at diamonds. And i joked as said, "where?" and he says, "On e-bay" and quickly changes the subject. I dunno ya''ll just really fishy. This, coupled with other little gestures makes me think that he has the damn thing. . . . . also. . .there was a HUGE hint but i would hate for him to read this and know that i know the huge hint

I''m reallllllly bad at waiting. Really. . . . please. . .just tell me i''m not going to lose my sanity.

Ahhhh you've come to the right place.

Honestly the waiting is enough to make a non-drinker an alcoholic.

The only thing you can really do is be patient. Come on here and post your impatient moments, that's what we are here for and we all are there or have been there so we know what you are going through.

Know this, when it happens all these impatient when will he ask I'm goign to kill him if it doesn't happen soon moments will quickly go away and they will become fond good to laugh at memories.

Then it's on the next stress...planning.

Breathe! A lot of us hate surprises, which is exactly why we''re ladies in waiting...

You won''t go insane. He''s gone that far, you probably don''t have long to wait now. Just breathe, and tell yourself that soon you won''t be freaking out about getting engaged, but about the wedding!

A lot of graduates say that they look back on this time with fond memories, so just sit back and enjoy.

hey. . .thanks everyone. . .it''s just that. . . i am really really bad with anticipation. it gives me anxiety and i have a hard time concentrating on anything else. I like things to be organized and i like to know whats going on and i have no control over this and it makes me really nervous. i don''t know how to describe it, it''s a deep seeded thing. i just really really hate surprises. i know you guys say that you do too, but really. . . they make me literally sick. i''m just trying not to dwell. Thanks for your kind words. and yes, i remember those commercials too. i''d be the one to stick a knife in the bottle to get the show on the road. wish i could that with this.

Thanks girls. . . no, i know i'm going to like what he got. I picked it out. haha. . . i think the only reason it is bothering me so much is that i'm waiting on a couple of other "big" things right now too. I just finished school and it takes a while for them to "officially" tell me that i'm done (even though i know that i am). I've been promoted at work, but am kind of doing two jobs at once until they finally move me over to the new position. I just feel like i'm at a crossroads and i wish something would give. I guess this seems like the "easiest" (or maybe just most likely) thing to give, since i "know" he has the ring. Does anyone understand this? I'm ok really. . . i am just a bit of a type A lawyer personality and don't like uncertainty. Thanks for all of your replies. I agree. . . i do need some wine. Thank g-d it's shabbat tomorrow (jewish sabbath). Wine is mandatory on fridays haha. . . i don't think g-d will mind a few margaritas either.

I think alot of us understands what you are talking about in different ways. For me it was all my friends were getting married and starting families. At the time of the marriages, I wasn''t even a girlfriend but when the familes started I was and with the person I wanted to spend my life with. It was a long couple of months when we started looking for rings and in that time everyone else seemed to be starting their next phase in life. I was still at my ''single'' phase, not engaged yet, wishing that they would just wait for me to catch up. Plus, I was moving back home, which I wasn''t exactly thrilled about but it was for ''us'' but I wanted to be engaged before I moved Jan 1. I got engaged on Dec 1, up until Nov 30 I had no idea he had gotten the ring and I was getting VERY impatient

. So we all know what you are going through....just in our own little way.

Oh and I loathe surprises.

But, trust me, this is one surprise that you will LOVE.

Cellososweet, just think...when you are an old married lady in a couple of years, you''ll look back sometimes and miss all the excitement and anticipation you''re going through right now!!! hey everyone. . . thanks for all of your kind words my midterms are over, i solved my medical insurance issue (i was mis-billed for a visit and was being threatened to go into collections), and IT''S FRIDAY! I feel so much better today. Since the proposal is my only anticipation now. . . i can handle it. I think it was because it was coupled with so many other things that i was just getting pissed off at it. i just wanted something to give and it did, finally. Now on to the wait for the proposal. Since it''s the only thing. .i think i can handle it.

Oh Evie- you and I are in the same boat for sure!!! We are looking at 2007 too and will be on a tight budget so I need extra time to plan / make stuff myself and find the best deals!!
I know we plan to go "window shopping" for rings in the next couple of months but I have no idea what the tiimeline is besides 2006. I think if I didn't laugh about it all I would go crazy!!

Yeah I ve become a little crazy! lol everytime i hear news of a new engagement of someone i know.. i laugh.. its weird LOL....we did the window shopping thing like a month before x-mas... and thats it. but i figure when it comes time to wedding plan, just be calm as ever...im sure we could pull of 07 weddings.. how hard could it be.....
