I am anxiously awaiting my ering. I have been married 3 years and the ring that I was originally given was yellowing and the baguettes had obvious inclusions
This is how it went - forgive me - it's going to be wordy:
Just before the wedding I switched my stone into another setting. The 18K engagement ring that I had received was yellowing at record speed, the baguettes were included, so I had a 19K designed. Problem with the yellowing, solved.
When I noticed the stone was still quite crooked, I returned to ask the jeweller what I could do. He put a rush on it and assured me it would be ready.
It was a chaotic time. I received the ring back 2 days (TWO) before the wedding! I had not noticed the workmanship of the ring in general, just the fact that it was still a little crooked but time was running out and it certainly was better than it had been before.
Well after the wedding/honeymoon was over and life as I knew it returned, I headed off to the jeweller again to ask his opinion on what could be done. He louped it and felt it was the best of both worlds. He told me emerald diamonds are notorious for being set crooked and no one would notice (except me). I guess I felt deflated and a little silly for being so anal about my ring, so I left.
3 years later:
Yea, I know it's been a long time. I knew I wouldn't be able to do anything but purchase another setting if I returned - but *amnit, all my other rings I own are beautiful except my engagement ring!!
At this point I should mention that my trusted family jeweller is a fantastic guy. They do a roaring trade and have been in business for decades. Prior to the ring fiasco, I had purchased diamond earrings for myself (0.75 ctw) and one diamond stud for my son (0.50 ctw), a tennis bracelet (4 carat round), a Canadian designed band 18K - very wide - with a row of small diamonds running down the center of the band, which I gave to my son as a gift, and a plethora of other doodads (aquamarine rings etc. etc. etc.).
(I even purchased more jewellery post-ring fiasco, all the while ignoring the crooked mess on my hand - after all I was VERY picky and no one else would see it right?)
But when I noticed that a yellowish/orange streak was appearing where some soldering had been done, I snapped.
To make the longest story I have ever written here shorter (lol), I have ordered another 19K ring. It is a thin pave band that will match my anniversary ring (1/2 eternity) perfectly. No baguettes, just my beautiful emerald cut diamond and 0.33 diamonds. They have my anniversary band so they can match it up and make sure (this time) that everything is perfect. I have their word and I do believe they will get it done to my specifications - this time. I am also waiting for a sapphire and diamond band (yippee!!) that I bought for myself…just because.
Now for the question (finally huh?). Would someone post pictures of their solitaire with pave (round/cushion/emerald cut/pear etc.) here so I can better pass the time while I wait for this beauty? The "solitaire" really isn't a solitaire because of all of the pave, but I don't know what else to call it! As many pictures as possible would be even better!
Thanks for making it this far if you did!! I know I wouldn't have.
