I can''t decide what favors I want…I know my wedding is wayyy off, but hey, it never hurts to plan ahead. I am getting married at the beach, but I am not so sure if I want a beach favor or not.

Can you guys post your beach and or non-beach favors or favor ideas so I can get some more ideas rolling around in my head?

Thanks!

i don''t know WHAT I am going to do for favors. I am thinking I''m just going to do chocolates of some sort..because everything else is either just useless or too girly. I have lots of ideas for my shower favors because those can be for girls. :)

Yay - another beach wedding! Mine is in August - the 20th, and we have decided to make a Beach party mix CD. So it will have cute beachy songs on it. When i have it all together I''ll post the songs for you.

Here are some other beach things that we''re doing:

1. hurricane lamps with sand, candles and shells in them.

2. cocktail umbrellas with seating arrangements on them

3. invitation has a beach chair on it!

4. Food is clambake style

That;s it! You can see my ideas at http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profilename=Treysar

FI and I are doing the CD thing too. BUT we have such different tastes that we wanted to accent it. He picks 5 I pock 5 and our first song is going to be Frank Sinatra''s "you say tomato I say tomatoe...."

We''re giving out jars of red raspberry and blackberry jam (berry theme).

You could find a local candy to give out. In Florida, I found these chocolate dipped coconut squares (YUM!!!), and at all the restaurants along the beach they had coconut and lime flavored mints which were really good. You could do flip-flops even, or hand held fans personalized with your names and wedding date. Or leis, fake or real flowers.

We''re giving jam too!!! A local person makes fabulous jellies/jams. Miss Amy. I love her. YUMMY!

Bubbles. They''re cheap. All sorts of desings too.

I think we''re doing personalized frisbees. We''re not getting married on the beach, but still in an outside venue for both the beach and reception.

Here are some that I would love to use if I were to have a beach wedding:

Chocolates shaped like starfish and shells (keep them out of the sun!)

Colorful saltwater taffy in cute, patterned boxes

If I were to do a donation I would roll the scroll with a ribbon and have a shell or starfish hanging from the ribbon

Clear candles with sand and shells at the bottom of the candle (actually inside- easy to make)

If I had a destination wedding I might give out flip flops or sunscreen with a new label, and the welcome kit at the hotel would be packed in a plastic pail with a shovel

Munchkin

I''m making the so-called "Neiman Marcus Cookies" and putting them into little chinese take-out boxes. I have an asian themed wedding.

here are my very non-beach favors

My mom is putting Jordan almonds (an Italian custom) in a tulle circle wrapped with green ribbon and we will be inserting two toothpick flags(one Scottish, one Italian) inside the knot of the bow. We are having a scotish/italian theme wedding. oooh not very beachy. im no help!

We are doing basic iced cookies in the shape of an L (his last name/my new one). The colors of the icing will be the wedding colors. You could make the cookies in a shape of seashells, sand castle, fish, boats etc.

This is a site i found that has the cookies made, iced, wrapped and shipped to you for a reasonable price. We are having someone make the cookies and ice them for us for $1/cookie. Ours wont have the extra detail icing (just a plain coat) and we have to bag and tag them ourselves (they will double as seat cards). You could also check your local bakery, which is how we found the person who is going to make ours.

Thanks to everyone for posting...got some verrry cool ideas. I am so excited!

We aren''t doing them. I have no desire to pour money into something no one seems to take.

For our guest book I bought purple pens and glassine envelopes (wax paper type) and Im having everyone write something on the back of their placecards. They can keep the purple pen. I guess that''s the "favor".

We had 2 receptions. For the first one, we made a donation through the I Do Foundation to 2 charities that we had chosen in honor of our guest and we placed cards on the tables telling guests. But I thought that I would do a traditional favor along with that, so I gave out bookmarks with pics from where we live (mountains, waterfalls, etc.). Let me tell you how upset I was when I spent so much time getting those bookmarks together (I put ribbons on them, drove 40 miles to go pick them up) and I was left with about 50% of them at the end because people didn''t take them home.

Soooo for our second reception, I did not repeat that effort. I just noted again that we had donated to our charities in honor of our guests.

i am not sure if this would be considered a "beach" favor but we just got back from a wedding and they gave heart-shaped wine stoppers, you could get some that had a shell or starfish on top...but who knows how much they are
