Hi everyone

I'm quite new here and recently received the diamond I was after. I am in the return period and just wanted to get confirmation if this diamond was generally worth about $6k Aud.

I took these images through an idealscope on a Pringles lid over a white phone background.

Please let me know you thoughtsIMG_20210316_225412.jpgIMG_20210316_173628~2.jpg

I'm not an expert but it looks like there's leakage under the table and the symmetry is off.

I don't know the size of the diamond you're considering and I know you're in Australia (hey fellow Aussie!) but it might be worthwhile looking into super ideal vendors like Whiteflash or Crafted by Infinity.

Can you post the numbers from the report?

Can you post an upclose picture of the stone (not an Idealscope image)?

Edit...to me there looks to be some slight leakage but I dont know if its the image setup or what. That's why I am asking for the other info.
@flyingpig and of course @Karl_K are good at analyzing idealscope images.

Some pavilion angle variation and leakage.
I say a decent 35/40.8, Tiffany quality (88~90/100, if I have to rate it)
From what I learned, you do not have too many options with Aussie vendors and it is a D.

It's a 0.8ct. any idea off the top of your head what a super ideal of this size from white flash would cost?

Thank you flying pig. In terms of value, would you consider this reasonable/ good for price? ($6k aud)

Will get onto it once I finish work

It’ll be lovely. I personally prefer, and actively seek out, this type of stone over others that are blood red under the table in the IS, as this flavour will be just as bright to the eye (stereo vision) but you’ll see more coloured light return across a variety of lighting types. Optical symmetry is imperfect but you aren’t paying for H&A.

Okay I checked your stats.. D VVS2 0.8ct but under 6k...

There is this option:
0.805ct D VS1 $5,866.00 - https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4336472.htm

Or if you must keep high ish specs but over budget:
0.71ct D IF $7,315.00 - https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4369570.htm

Or smaller, compromised a little on specs but within budget:
0.7ct E VVS1 $4,761.00 - https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4359563.htm

Thank you, is white flash quoted in USD? I assumed so given the phone number is American

The first enlarged image is taken by a phone camera through an idealscope (hence some fuzz on the diamond image)

Sorry my bad I forgot you were a fellow Aussie! It's in USD.

Thank you all. Hoping I could get a few more opinions

I think it's a nice stone, but I'm a perfectionist and I would rather go down in color to go up in cut quality. It doesn't look like a badly cut stone by any means, but it also isn't as perfect as I'd want for a stone of that cost. I find that stones color K and above generally face up white enough that they look white to almost everyone in most settings.

I think you could probably save $2-3k(USD) and get a perfectly cut stone if you're willing to go down in color. If you're committed to the purest colorless stone you're probably at an average price point for that stone.

Thank you for the insight.

Edit: That's more than half price off! Where do you normally find your stones? Im interested in looking around

Color is so subjective. I is my floor, H is my sweet spot and G I think is plenty white. Once it is mounted, no one is going to be staring at it upside down.

this is circa $5700 AUD. IMHO a great one to buy.

Both of the above suggestions from Whiteflash are really awesome choices! I would be very happy with either of those. I do agree that for a lot of people K might be considered warm. I think the setting you choose will make a difference. If it is being set with very white melee stones a color G or higher might be noticeable. If it's a solitaire setting I think you can get away with a bit more tone to the diamond. Like some have mentioned - nobody will be looking at it upside down.
