About vendors, or terms with varying meanings and interpretations like ‘eyeclean’.

Or at least if the thread goes awry in a manner you are uncomfortable with - revise them instead of deleting?

How do we all learn from each other if the answers/suggestions/viewpoints we purposefully post here to find from our PS peers
Then get deleted for others to not learn from?

While we won’t always agree in opinions and viewpoints and definitions of terms (vendor to different vendor might not agree either).
Others opinions and viewpoints and experiences can help us in our own gem/jewelry journey by bringing up points of thought we hadn’t known about before purchases.
And it’s nice to know we aren’t on an island.
PS
I sincerely apologize for the previous thread in recounting stories that were not mine to tell.

I was about to post this but saw that you already started a thread.

The thread about deleted threads was deleted???

I came back to share an article with a certain Pricescope member about how designers are starting to embrace inclusions in gemstones. That thread is now deleted too. Oh well. Here’s the article if anyone is interested.

Fascinating Caprioles of Nature Gemstones with Inclusions - Ganoksin

Inclusions can be nice.

Absolutely! They just need to be properly disclosed and priced accordingly. But then you have gems like demantoid, where horsetail inclusions are highly prized and actually increase the stone's value!! :mrgreen2:

I honestly feel like this whole topic has ultimately been constructive, and I'm glad you changed it to a more general discussion, @Rfisher. I learned a lot about perception, too. Shout out to our original OP, as well, for bringing about an interesting conversation.

Well said!

Although, I kind of get how some people might want to pull back after putting themselves out there. I’m not one to normally share much on the internet, so I get wanting to delete everything. It’s just a shame that the threads were so informative. I do wish they could have been edited instead of deleted.

I will recount what I said before. I find threads the outline things like how an vendor operates, or things to look out for as highly valuable.

I have never had a stone custom cut but this has been a worthwhile education as it would never occur to me to specify parameters and define those parameters.

Other threads I wish hadn't been delete spoke about how certain designers operate. Like who is fine with multiple cad revisions, who will charge you for the (which is fine IF you know), and who doesn't appreciate input on their designs.

I come to PS to learn from others so when threads disappear it does us all a disservice. How many times has someone said "I searched but didn't find anything and now X has happened" when in fact X is pretty standard and had the consumer known they would have been prepared or paid accordingly.

I think of the Sri Lanka threads, those have been invaluable. Not as discouragement as much as here is the level risk you have to accept. If that is fine then great, if not fine too.

I come to PS to get input and advice about things I don't know about. Treatments, windows, CADs, diamond stats etc. While I love ogling the pretties it is what I can take with me offline to create items I treasure and not feel ripped off that keeps me coming back

Sometimes what's said about a vendor could also be a legal concern for the forum owners. I don't know if that's behind some of the thread deletions but I wouldn't doubt it.

Perhaps not relevent to the two threads recently deleted but ...
Dang
Its on the tip of my tounge (i only just got up)
But a tread i was participating in very recently took an unpleasent turn but the OPer took back and reclaimed her thread and all then seemed rosy and sparkly again
....if i could just put my finger on it
