To my mom, who is getting a new hip this morning. Fingers crossed that everything goes well but I will let everyone know, but for now please do send us positive energy in whatever form.

Thanks.

AG

I''m sure everything will go well. I''ll be thinking about your mom today! *hugs*

Your mother will be in my prayers. *hug*

Amber,

I will definitly be thinking of your mom and say a little prayer for her to have a quick and easy recovery. She will need lots of love and TLC. My mom had a knee replacement and it was tough for her at first (with physical therapy, etc), but the replacement was so beneficial for her! Do you live close to your mom?

AmberGretchen-

You have my good thoughts and prayers, too. My mother had a hip replacement between 5 and 10 years ago and my father is about to have one...maybe in a few weeks. Let us know how your mother does! What kind of anesthesia is she having?

Best,
Deborah

PS-Conventional wisdom has it a knee replacement (which jorman's mother had) is more painful than a hip replacement. Let's hope this is true for your mother's surgery (that the post-operative pain is bearable and brief)! My mother said the hip replacement was great because it *stopped* her daily hip pain! Usually after a couple of days people with hip replacements are more comfortable than they were before the surgery!

Lord
Please protect and heal AmberGretchen''s Mom.
Keep her safe and guide the doctors as they help her.
Grant her the strenth for a quick recover.
Flood her and her family with your blessings and surround them with your comforting arms.
In Jesus'' name
Amen!

You''ve got my prayers as well! My grandma had a total hip replacement a few years ago when she was almost 95! She did great! I think your mom is going to be fine, and she won''t have a painful hip anymore! Yay!

My thoughts and prayers are with your mom as well. Let us know how it goes.

My thougths are most definitely with you!! I''m sure she''ll be ok, let us know how it goes

Good thoughts, and positive energy going your mom''s way! I hope all goes well and she has a speedy recovery!!!

Hope your mom sails through her surgery without any complications!! Let us know how she is doing!!

Prayers for a smooth operation and swift recovery. Please make sure, as painful as it may be, that she toughs through her physical therapy. I don''t know how old a women she is; but, the recovery time is usually greater than they make it out to be. My mom had a really hard time w/ complications; but, she may be more unusual.

I hope everything goes well for you mother.
I''m sure you are a great source of support for her.

AG - You're going to be amazed at what a difference this will make in the quality of her life! My mom had both knees done together last March. It brought tears to my eyes that she and my dad were able to walk me down the aisle and even dance all night when I got married in August! I'm so proud of her for going through all that she did. Every day will be a little better for your mom...I promise!
With positive thoughts and prayers... klr

Thanks so much for all the good thoughts guys. I am happy to report that the surgery did indeed go very well. She was still pretty nauseous and groggy when I left her last night, but not in any pain in the hip. We are hoping she will be much more awake and "with it" today and able to go home very soon. FYI she is 66 so actually pretty young and so hopefully that will help with the recovery - she is also very fiesty and determined and she has a very positive attitude about the recovery (she even bought herself a little iPOD shuffle to listen to while she does physical therapy to help motivate her). I really hope what everyone is saying about her being better once she recovers is true - she has so much energy (besides being amazingly brilliant intellectually) and before this was more of a problem I could barely keep up with her (and I''m only 23 now!!).

Again, thanks so much for all the good thoughts and I will make sure to post some periodic updates as she progresses through the recovery process.

I''m glad things went well!

I''ll be curious to hear your updates- my 89 yo grandmother is having her hip replaced in August. Her surgeon told my parents it''s a very easy process with minimal recovery, and he''s even done it on 92 yos!

It is true. I am not saying that physical therapy isn't painful, but it gets great results. None of us would lie to you :-). Thanks for the update. Keep 'em coming!

Deb
