Hi,
I was on this forum earlier this year looking for a diamond. Long story short, recommended diamond was purchased by someone else. I have found an H SI2 that I like the broad facets on. Below are screen shots from seller video.
The seller says that the diamond is eye clean. I don’t know about that but my vision isn’t great so it could look eye clean to me despite magnified screen shots.
What should I be asking the seller? What are your thoughts on this diamond? The budget is $4,500 for the diamond. Thank you for your guidance.

My vision isn’t the greatest either anymore :(
But-
(Always a but)
I think this particular SI2 -with its diverse and widespread inclusions- is really going to be masking the facet pattern, and not sure how much of it is visible anymore to appreciate on your hand or neck or whereever.

Just going by what I see from that picture.
Mine is an SI2 as well - but only a couple, and near the perimeter.
Am guessing this one will overall look more small glittery over broad flashes when worn.

Thank you for your response. Your comments on the facet pattern are much appreciated and educational to me. Back to the search.

I would pass on this. I think the cut is not great , the crown is shallow, and it’s not eye clean. What is your budget? We can surely help :)

I wouldn't buy this one. We can help find alternatives if you let us know your budget and preferred specs

I see you’ve passed but was curious who rated it as H Si2? Did it have a lab report? Be sceptical of “Si2” gems without a GIA report unless the seller is a known person with reliable judgement.

The diamond is the 1.27 ct oec from Ivy and Rose. They rate it F/G SI2. I was suspicious and asked if it had a certificate that said I1. I was told no certificate. In the backlit picture, the diamond looks intriguing.

I am open to purchasing a preowned ring. Realistically, the ring budget is $6,500. A simple solitaire setting is fine for the present if purchasing a loose stone. I gained weight so my ring size is a 6.25.

Thank you to all who have offered assistance in the search. I deeply appreciate it and am humbled by the knowledge and research that goes on in this community.

Do you have a color preference ? And only white diamonds?

What’s the minimum size requirement?

They have great customer service. Ask them to see this stone in multiple lightings on back of hand right next to a similarly sized one with a lab report that’s f/g SI2.
To see both clarity and color comparison to their in house grading.

If color is a higher parameter
And you do like the looks of it’s faceting
Maybe it’s the right fit for you?

I am very wary of a large valuable diamond that a vendor chooses not to send to GIA for a report, especially these days where it is getting more and more common for natural diamonds to have reports. Perhaps with smaller, one person shops on IG where fast turnaround and low margins is the order of the day, I can understand why they may not do it sometimes. But for a company like ivy and rose with a large inventory who are located in New York, I can only imagine such a choice benefits the vendor and not the consumer.

I think they are in Chicago, but I agree with you.
