Hello, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this stone from JA in term of light return, fire, brilliance ?
Is it worth to sell it and get a ACA (same weight, clarity and color) from WF instead ?
Thank you

Will you possibly want to upgrade in the future? If so, then WF has a much more generous upgrade policy.

Yes at some point. But I already purchased this JA...question is if this is a stone to keep or sell it to buy ACA ?

The stone from JA looks nice but is not one of their True Hearts diamonds. GIA rounds their numbers so hard to know for sure the actual crown/pavilion angles. If superior light performance is your goal, then WF will offer a better cut diamond in their ACA line. If you are not still in the return time with this JA diamond and would have to sell and you won’t get exactly what you paid for it. Coupled with that and the additional money for an ACA, it could be a costly exchange. You might want to ask WF if it would be something they would want to take in trade on one of their ACA diamonds. Is this diamond already in a setting?

Not enough of a gain to make the hit in $$ worth it.
The numbers are even with the gia gross rounding in the sweet zone and the face up optical symmetry looks to be while not ACA level to be ok.

Totally agree.

One option would be to get an ACA (a smaller one should work just as well) to compare in person. Some people can notice a huge difference in performance between ACA and non-ACA. For others, both will just look white and sparkly and not worth the extra cost.

I don't see anything of mentionable concern at all with your diamond from JA... appears that it's a darned good one.
I think you definitely picked a stout performer.
JA's upgrade policy is twice the price, minus your original purchase cost.
Assuming that it was $36,800 then the replacement diamond needs to be $73,600 or more.
$73,600
- $36,800
__________
$36,800 out of pocket
...you'll be getting quite a jump, as that puts you in 3+ carat D-F VVS2-VS2 territory (today's prices).

Wow…your guess is really close. It was $35k. At that time I was on the fence between the JA and WF. I decided to go with this JA because I thought it was a nice stone for a price…But at the end of the day, knowing it wasn’t ACA, somehow make me keep looking back wonder if it was a good decision. Your answer make me feel better.

Thank you everyone. I think I will keep the stone now.
Given it wasn’t ACA, it just made me keep looking back and wonder if my stone was a good choice (light return, fire,…). I never seen a ACA that ct weight in real life so I didn’t have any to compare.
I feel better know after reading your answers and suggestions.

It looks like you have your answer but I was also going to link this thread. I went through this when I was deciding whether or not to sell my earrings and I ordered an ACA and compared and I put photographs and video - see #74 of the thread.
