This is all of the information I have right now. Assuming that the diamond is eye clean, how do you think this diamond will perform? What more information should I ask for?

Carat 0.860
Color G
Clarity SI1
Cut Excellent
Depth % 62.3
Table % 53.0
Measurements 6.14x6.19x3.84

Get the GIA report number and post it here.

yap, no GIA report listed, so nothing to go about. You could ask WF to give you the GIA report number?

I'll do that, thanks a lot!

Thanks stone cold!
With the GIA report check and the HCA test, I should be able to figure things out pretty well on my own!

yap, looks promising from the numbers.

great, thanks again. i really don't know what i'd do w/o this forum...probably end up ignorantly blissful

WF's virtual stone? They will probably get all the IS/ASET image for you when they call it in.

yes, it's a wf stone. sounds good.

So, I think I am down to these two. The first one might have been my first choice if money wasn't a factor ($350 more). The second one performs really well on the HCA test (1.7) and is an E, but says it has a "feather" under clarity. Are feathers bad enough that I should avoid it at all cost, or is variable case by case?

Looks promising from the numbers. The 2nd one is also a well cut 60/60 stone, some like it, some do not. SI1 feathers are usually not a problem but WF can advise you further if it is their in house stone.

I see, thanks yet again!

Not sure of the CA used in that stone.

More like #4 in the article. https://www.pricescope.com/journal/laboratory_cut_grades_what_report_doesn’t_show

SC I know you are aware of this, I am writing this for the benefit of the OP and others.

GIA EX graded stones (even with these proportions) often do not achieve AGS 0 for light performance.
Just because we see the same Table, Average Crown Angle and Pavilion angle (an average of 8 measurements) is not enough to say something will look like a particular AGS 0 performing stone.

If a diamond was capable of getting AGS 000 than it would be sent to AGS and command a premium and not all AGS 000 stones need have perfect H&A optical symmetry.

Both could work from the numbers but the patterning will be different. The D stone will probably have a 60/60 and a thinner arrow/splintery look compared to the G stone. Can the vendor get an idealscope image?

it's WF, i'll have to ask.

it appears that both of my previous choices are now unavailable. which of these two would you choose? the first has a crystal and the second has a feather. the second is also a D color. price is about the same for each.

Both of those leave something to be desired, top one would not score well on HCA and would have leakage.
Bottom one is too deep, will faceup small and have leakage also has high score on HCA.

Top one could certainly work, w/ the 85lgf

So could bottom actually - much depends on how much averaging and rounding GIA did

Best to ask WF.

ok, thank you!
i'm told it's eye clean as well. this might be the one!

so, this is it. please share your opinions whether or not it is up to snuff.
thanks!

Idealscope/ASET image looks good. What is WF's take on the eye-cleanliness now they have it in their hands?

they said it's eye clean! i'm so happy!
thank you a million times over stone cold!

No prob. Good luck. :)
