Can we please agree not to post spoilers to tv shows or movies on the forum? It really is one of my only forms of entertainment as me and SO are saving for our move. I know I mentioned this on the LIW list but really....I went on to check the list and ended up seeing a spoiler for the office which happens to be my favorite show. I only get 2 channels on my tv so that especially makes it sucky because I don''t have a lot to pick from in the first place. If you really absolutely feel the need to post things like that, make a new topic and put "spoiler" in the heading, for crying out loud!

Ok, I am done being a b*tch, but I think a lot of you know I cannot hold my silence if I''m really ticked off and there you have it.

I''d also like to add that I''m sure the people who posted those things didn''t think it would bother anyone; I''m really not a coldhearted person
but isn''t that really a topic for hangout anyways?

Don't open the thread then. If you see a thread, for the Office, you know they will be talking about it. You have to be your own filter here.

that''s what I''m saying. We need to start making threads if you''re going to talk about things like that. This was posted right in the middle of the LIW Official List. How could I have avoided seeing that?

I feel your pain! I''m pretty much obsessed with The Office, but I missed Thursdays episode, and I was very disappointed when I found out "the big news." Like many fans, I had been waiting for that event for some time, but unfortunately, I saw it on the LIW list before I was able to view the episode. I was NOT a happy camper.

It wasn''t in a thread about the Office - it was in the LIW list.

Fair enough not to post spoilers like that, it''s not fair for the people that acually want to see the show.

I get what you are saying Smurf but Pam was on the list. So, it''s only natural that someone was going to say something about taking her off. Right?

I guess the lesson that should be taken away from this is in the future, no fictitious television characters should be added to the list because it may spoil the fun for other members who miss the original airing.

My bad. I''m sorry.

She was on the LIW list, so I said something. I won''t do it again.

okay, i have to laugh just a bit (in my own dumbness). since i have been having issues with my computer and pricescope, i thought i just missed a new member named pam and her boyfriend jim.

LOL

and to think i was going to look for a smtr thread from "pam"

(this also proves i do not watch enough network tv. damn scifi channel)

haha i''m totally with you there. i thought pam was a real person too! i was kinda even wondering how you become an "honorary LIW" haha...

oh well...

I love online spoilers! I love keeping up with shows even if I miss episodes so that I can hop into the season at any point and know what''s going on.

Sorry, but am I the only one who thinks that once the show has aired it''s fair game? In any event, I''ll try to refrain from saying anything about tv...

I tend to agree. I think of web dialogue as I do in-person dialogue. If you happen to stumble into a conversation and hear something about a show that you didn''t want to hear, it''s kind of hard to call someone out for that, at least in my opinion. Not really any different on the web.

That said, I feel bad that I ruined the show for someone, so of course I''ll try to refrain, but it''s not unavoidable.

I agree that once a show has aired it is fair game for discussion. Are you going to call the television station and complain if in a preview for next week''s show you see what has happened in the previous week''s episode before you had a chance to watch it? I don''t get the suggestion that the conversation about the television show should be moved to another section of the message board either, especially coming from a person who often makes posts that are not on topic with being a "lady in waiting". I''m sorry if I am coming across as being rude, but I thought that this whole thread was in bad taste and although I normally lurk I felt compelled to say something. Isn''t it also ironic that this post does not contain its very own spoiler alert?

*sighs*
I agree that in person or on tv it would be fine and probably expected...but the day after a show airs the previous night on a web forum? There are certain "web etiquette" rules and I do firmly believe that if it involves a spoiler of any kind (i.e. for a book, a movie, a tv show) that it should be put in a different thread with a spoiler alert in the title. I agree that yes I have deviated from topics and what have you, so has everyone else here. But there is a difference between ruining a popular tv show and and, off the top of my head, going from anxiety about a proposal to some sort of family issue. As for this topic being in bad taste? That is your opinion...and this thread is my opinion which I am entitled regardless of whether you think it is in bad taste or not. This is the last I am going to say on the topic.

I almost missed this. What exactly did I spoil? I didn''t say anything about what happens in the show...this statement makes no sense.

Well, I don''t really watch The Office anymore, but after reading this thread, I gather that Jim must have proposed to Pam. I did not read the original post that was a point of contention for you, but reading this thread "spoiled" it for me.

If Pam was a "lady in waiting" on a popular television show, wouldn''t the proper place to discuss any changes in her relationship status be on this very section of this board?

I think this is one of those situations where no one is really in the wrong. I posted a spoiler in an appropriate place, since Pam was an LIW. However Smurfy was not expecting to see it there, which I also understand.

Typically, I''d say if there was a spoiler, but with the LIW list there was really no way to say that.

It was just bad luck. I''m not inconsiderate in that fashion, I''d never just randomly bring up a TV spoiler in an unexpected thread.

The only "web etiquette" I''ve heard about spoilers is you don''t talk about it on the East coast until it''s been aired on the West coast. Once it''s been aired nationwide, it''s up for grabs.

Anyone upset enough to start dictating what should and should not be posted about a television show could use a life IMO. This is not high school for pete''s sake

The only reason I posted about etiquette is not because I need a life (thank you very much for the insult, and you say I am the one who acts like they are in high school) but because I am a web master and have headed many forums before and have had complaints like this come up. All I''m saying is don''t post spoilers in the middle of topics randomly. Ok? No need to gang up on me. I''d rather be concentrating on my special date tonight then arguing with you ladies about this endlessly so now I really am officially done. If you feel the need to carry on, then fine, but don''t expect an answer back.

I'm a mod of a pretty popular message board and for tv shows it's simply an east/west rule for spoilers.

It's not a spoiler if it has already aired. It would be a spoiler if someone had read a script/seen an early screening and revealed what had happened prior to the actual air date.

Otherwise, like others have said here on this board, it's fair game to discuss.

We shouldn't have to tip toe around just because you didn't watch the show when it aired originally.

Exactly.

I know a lot of people do TIVO now and expect everyone to stay shut but honestly I have no idea when a TIVO owner would have the time to sit down and watch the show and I''m not going to try to guess.

If its been aired in the west coast then its good to go. If you haven''t watched it because you TIVO then sorry.

OMG - PAM IS ENGAGED??????????????

tee hee - sorry....
