I've done the whole 'bangs' - 'no bangs' - 'sideswept bangs' - to 'no bangs' and am once again thinking about doing some sideswept bangs but a longer version that comes to about my cheekbones.

I was thinking something that was cut from further back on my head in a triangle shape in the center of my hair. (Not sure if that makes sense) because the last time I had sideswept bangs, it was a disaster and I hated them with a passion. They were cut straight across and they fell into my face all the time- I think they fell into my face because of the way they were cut. I've got fine hair and it took me about a year and a half/almost 2 years to grow out the last time I had them.

I constantly change my hairstyle but have had the same style at different lengths for about a year now. Thinking about the sideswept bangs, I really need to think hard about it because the other times I've had bangs- they've drove me NUTS. But on the other hand, the sideswept bangs I had were much shorter in the past (just barely past my eyebrows) and I thought if I had a longer version and hated them, it wouldn't take long to grow out. (Maybe a year...) I guess I get bored with my hair so I always feel the need to change something.

So anyway, here is the current hairstyle I have which I love and don't want to change...(this is not my photo)

I know this is not a good photo, but you can see the shape/cut of bangs I am talking about to get a better idea...

I have fine hair and your hair is EXACTLY what I''m striving for. I have side swept bangs due to grow out.
I mean, do whatever you want, but for Goodness sake leave them alone

So what do you think?

Yeah, and you know- when I wanted this style, I had bangs that I had to wait till they grew out. (Because the style I have is longer in the front/shorter in the back) So they finally grew out about a year ago and I was so happy with my hair but now I'm thinking bangs again........

I LOVE the cut in the 1st photo. I wouldn''t change a thing!

BB- How were your sideswept bangs cut and how long are they? Do they fall in your face?

and if you dont like them you''ll have another two years of growing them out. once i got my bangs the same length as my hair i swore i''d never have bangs of any kind again. its been a lot of years and i''m never tempted. i too have fine hair......

ps i love the cut of the first picture.

So I take it bangs never worked for you?

PS- Thanks for the compliments on the first haircut. It works so well with fine hair. It''s stacked/layered a lot in the back and not really in the front. It gives such volume! Especially when it''s just a touch shorter than that photo above....

Oh gosh, I just noticed I spelt sideswept wrong in the thread title

I''m so embarrased...

umm i also have fine hair too...I used to HATE bangs.. then I was at a job and they CUT then.. but like straight across crazy bangs and told me it was the "supermodel hair cute" LOL.. needless to say I let them grow out and have loved them since.. i tried to grow them out.. but i actually missed them.. i think I picked up the my forhead is head thing when I was growing them hate and HAD to cut them back... Ill post a pic of them for you :-)

oh i forgot to answer the questions LOL

Umm I cut them myself at an agle so they are shorter to longer as I go from the middle to the side of my face if that makes sense..I would say they are like 5" or so?? Im at school so I can measure right now...and they "sometimes" fall in my face.. but that is usually when they are getting a tad too long OR I did curl the ends a little bit.. :-) hope that helps!

Bangs can be such a pain! They''re either too long, too short, too thick, too blunt, too something! I don''t think I have the patience to let mine grow out either!

I vote for leaving it the way it is - I can''t stand bangs falling in people''s faces and eyes! The first photo looks fantastic!!

i wore bangs for more time than i''ve been without bangs.......and always struggled with them because they always got in my face or needed trimming. i also got bored with them.

i''d love to see a side view and back view of that first hair cut! it really is attractive and the hair just does not look fine at all.

Dreamer, I think sideswept bangs are so cute! I know how scary it is to try to accomplish them, though. It sounds like the "triangle" idea you have would work great. Having them straight across and then pushing them to the side seems to yield mixed results.

Doing them longer so they would grow out more easily sounds like an awesome plan to me.

BlondeBunny, your bangs are so cute! That is exactly what I have wanted for awhile now, but I am too scared to let anyone tough my hair because they always make a mess of it. Will you cut them for me?

the trend in bangs is becoming longer...we''re not seeing nearly as many side swept short bangs anymore. Maybe that will help you decide...

My bangs are grown out to long and sideswept now, and of course I am thinking about getting them cut short and sideswept again. Either way they seem to drive me nuts, but if my hair is all one length (it''s fine but there is a ton of it) it looks too flat and boring to me. I totally understand this dilemma! But, if you love your current hairstyle and don''t really want to change it, I say maybe you''re just bored with your appearance (we all get tired of seeing the same thing in the mirror day in, day out...) find something else to change that is less drastic than a haircut. Maybe a new bronzer or lip or eye color? That can be a fun way to add some excitement and sparkle to your look instead of messing up your already great hair!

YES! Love them... and they give such body!

I like the first hairstyle photo. I wouldn''t change it!

I really like the look you''re going for, but I do have to say I''m not sure it would work with fine hair. I get side swept bangs a lot and as soon as they grow out past the corner of my eye, you can''t even tell I have bangs anymore because they lay completely flat and integrated with the rest of my hair, not over my forehead at all. If your hair has some natural volume and curl, I think you can get longer bangs like that and have them look like the picture after styling, but I know my fine hair would never stay put like that in a million years. It''s just too limp and flat so I kept getting them cut short again so you can actually tell I have bangs (I get them cut like BB). But it''s certainly worth trying! Even if it didn''t look quite like what you want, I''m sure it won''t look bad and it definitely won''t get in your eyes as much as shorter bangs.

I do the same thing: grow bangs, cut them, grow them out again! I currently have longer sideswept bangs and I love them. They can be annoying at times but I like the way they look. Are you thinking similar to Maxie''s bangs? Like cheek bone? I really love her hair, as you already know. Kate''s cut is cute, though, too. Hard to say. Sorry I was really no help!

I prefer the first photo.

I definitely vote for ''TO HAVE SIDESWEPT BANGS AGAIN!!''....but I''m biased.

Like you Dreamgirl, I''m petite and I look very young for my age. I''ve had bangs for the past 8 years...only growing them out once. I''ve contemplated growing them out recently, but I honestly think that I look sooo young without bangs. My hair used to be the same length as yours but I am currently growing it out. I''ve attached a pic of my hair with bangs at the same length as yours (air dried and taken in late September)...and then a pic from early December with my hair straightened.

All these pretty bangs are killing me! I have sideswept bangs but I''m growing them out and I''m currently sporting the bobby pinned-look. Having a tiny forehead and curly, fine hair = sideswept bangs were a really bad idea.

If you have the right hair for it, I say cut! But for me...yeah, not so much.

Well, Maxie''s bangs are very heavy and thick. I was thinking a similar length though.

Decisions.........decisions.......

whenever I cut my bangs, I love them when they fix them at the salon and then when I get home and try to do them, they look like shite. Mine are chin length right now and I'm growing them out longer. It's taken about 5 months to get them back to my chin.

Just my 2 cents. GL with your decision!

So.........I''m getting a haircut this Saturday. Time to shape up the style. Still thinking about the long sideswept bangs/no bangs idea. EEEEK

lol!

Exciting!! I'd love to see a pic of how it turns out!!

ETA: have you noticed it seems as if Maxie is growing her bangs out?

Yes, I think she is! Her hair in general seems a bit longer these days. Maybe she is due for a haircut? Do you ever notice when anyone on the show cuts their hair? Sometimes I notice it in trends...as in, several characters seem to have new cuts at the same time!
