My fiance and I are thinking of going totally untraditional and using our favorite song for the entire processional, but it''s basically a pop song and would not be anything like the typical "here comes the bride" or "trumpet voluntary" type stuff. The song has always been "our" song and we want to incorporate it. We are not having any sort of dancing/music at the reception so that''s not an option. The song is Bee Gees, How Deep Is Your Love. We then plan to have the opening remarks by the minister tie in the song. Are we nuts?

I don''t think you are nuts...I have been pondering doing the same type of thing. I am not very ''formal'' so teh traditional songs just seem too serious to me. If you are uncomfortable with the thought of using a pop song, perhaps there is an instrumental version that would seem more in-line with a ceremony. They tend to be a half beat slower usually, which might fit in better witha processional. But either the original or an instrumental i think would be fab. Luckily with that song, most people in attendance will be familiar enough with the lyrics to get it even in instrumental versions, and if they aren''t the lyrics can either be in the program or the officiant can mention a few of the key ones.

A little different, but will be totally you two.

If that''s what you wanna do, by all means! Although personally I think it would be great for the recessional too... seems a bit on the faster side, if I recall the song correctly. .. but definitely incorporate it into your ceremony!

We think the tempo is slow enough. My marching band oriented fiance has actually plotted out all the walking part. Our wedding is outside on a patio type area. There are stairs leading down from the building that the patio is attached to. The plan is to have me & the bridesmaids will walk down. The song is 4 minutes long so we are going to have the guys walk from the side, then meet the girls at the bottom of the stairs and then walk up the "aisle" where the guests will be seated. Having the guys walk a bit helps eat up the time otherwise we wind up needing to walk very s-l-o-w-l-y.

I was just going to write that if you are getting married in a church they may not "allow" you to use a pop song. We got married in a catholic church and the priest gave us a list of "approved" songs. None were pop - all were your traditional songs.

Since your ceremony is not in a church, I say go for it! One of my friends had the theme from St. Elmo''s Fire and it was really nice.

Oh,
I think that''s a lovely idea. I know a girl who walked down the eisle to John Lennon''s Imagine...
Good for you for personalizing your day.

I think it''s cool. I plan on doing a folksy song to walk down the aisle too as well.

I think it sounds BEAUTIFUL!!!! That soung is perfect!

I will be walking down the aisle to a BRuce Springsteen song!! And for those that know me and my fiance, there is no other song that would fit the bill.

I was at awedding and the bride walked down to a beatles song, and it was so awesome, i never even thoguht of anything other than here comes the bride until I saw that - it was SOOO SPECIAL!

I''m so glad that you guys don''t think we''re nuts. I just couldn''t imagine Trumpet Voluntary for the walk down the aisle. I''m just not that formal....

My friend was going to do this for her wedding, but then decided on more traditional... I might have to steal it from her...

She was going to walk down the aisle to ''Isn''t She Lovely'' by Stevie Wonder. I think it might be great for me since I''ll be walking down alone...

AmandaPanda--I think the Stevie Wonder song would be great. This will be the 2nd marriage for both my fiance and I. We are thinking of having my fiance come out to Gene Autry''s "Back in the Saddle Again" just to make people laugh....

He he or the remake A Perfect Circle did...just kidding. Seriously though your wedding represents you, no one else. So do what feels right to ya''ll.
