Hi there -
I was wondering where you had your dance floor positioned at your wedding? In a corner? Center of the room? Pros/cons? We will be having a 60*30 tent and were debating on where to position it.
Thanks for any advice!!!

Center, with tables on either side.

At the only tent reception I''ve been to, they placed the dance floor at one end of the tent. I didn''t notice any problems, though I don''t think there''s anything wrong with a centrally located dance floor, either. The nice thing about having the floor in the center is that it gives guests a better view of the first dance, cake cutting (if you do it near the floor), etc.

we''re not doing a tent reception but are having our dance floor in the center as well :)

Hey there, we had an option of either putting it in the centre or off to the side of the room. We had the advantage of looking at the room set up for different weddings both ways.

We decided on centre of the room because it was a big room and putting it in the centre made the room seem more filled. If you have only a small space then putting it off to one side might be more space efficient.

We like the babanced look of the centre dance floor with the tables either side. This also meant that there was more tables in 'prime position' near the bridat table.

Ours will be at the side. Our reception room is small.

Caught out before I could edit Cindy!

lol now i wanna know what you were talking about you buttheads lol

Probably center. Everyone in the room will want a perfect view of you dancing with your hubby :)

Our space doesn''t really allow a center dance floor. The space (in a museum) is I-shaped, so the dance floor will be at one end of the "I" and tables down the center. The other end will probably have the placecard table. It sounds sort of strange, but it looks great in all the pictures I''ve seen!

Most weddings I''ve been to have the dance floor set up in the center of the room, I think I prefer it that way if the option is given since then everybody is almost just as close to the dance floor as everybody else. The last wedding I went to had the dance floor at one end of the room and as it was a fairly long room, the tables in the back felt very remote. However, this was ameliorated somewhat by the wine buffet being at the back of the room as well.

We put the dance floor in the middle of our tent reception, with tables on either side. I do think, though, that if you want people to dance, you should invest in sidewalls, if you aren''t already. At most tent receptions I have been to, including mine, people spread out beyond the tent and there is much less dancing than at reception hall receptions, again, at least in my experiences. I believe, that sidewalls would keep your guests contained and make them more likely to dance.

Thanks for all of your replies! I think that we will put it not quite in the middle of the tent so as to get it bit further away from the entrance (so about 2/3 towards the back) with one row of tables between the end of the tent and the "top" of the dance floor. Katamari - good idea with the sidewalls. We were planning on having those up in any case. Not sure I''ll dance with any hubby but for sure with my future wife ... lol
Cheers,
Rob
