Possible Topaz Purchase?

I'm looking for some topaz. I think it's a fun stone, and is relatively inexpensive for me to kind of stretch my jewelry muscles and figure out this process. I'm really looking for 2 things: I want a large pear to turn into a pendant (I love big fat pears) and an oval for a ring (colour is more important than size, but I'd like 2 ct+).

Could you all tell me what you think of this pear? I see that the colour is a little more intense on each end, but for some reason that kind of appeals to me. Is there anything in this stone that screams out, "No, don't waste your money on me!" or does it look pretty good?

(Oh boy, is this pet rock collection becoming addicting. I'm starting to constantly think of what stone I want next. I adore pulling out my amethyst and staring at it under different kinds of light. Freke, you're rubbing off on me!)

ETA: This could make a fun cocktail ring! What do you ladies think?

As for the pear I think it depends on how you feel about it when you get it-but I don''t really see anything bad about it. And for the price-you can''t beat it! And I think between the two stones you could have a seriously awesome *set* going on there...

Now I''m considering looking around for my giant pear again...that sucker is going to be hard to find because I''m all picky!!!!

And I love the topaz you''ve got your eye on. Great colour! I don''t know how I missed it, because I am always attracted to that vivid blue. The stats are incredibly similar. It seems I''ve been learning in all my lurking...muah ha ha ha ha.
