Potential GemCal SF visit

GemCal and I were talking about meeting in person to see some stones. Except that's a lot of pressure to buy lots!

I figure GemCal should also get a fair shot at selling to other people too and there's lots of SFers at PS.

Anyone interested? It'd be mid Feb. Exact time and date aren't set yet.

I would be very interested, depending upon where and when. Is this Hemi? Would they be bringing a bunch of their stones for possible sale? It would also, of course, to meet some other Bay Area kindred gem spirits too!

He was going to show me spinels...but I'm a wimp and scared of making him come out and only buying one stone or not finding anything I love at all. Actually I'm a wimp in general when it comes to shopping for gems.

I can ask for details but he's stopping in SF on his way back from Tuscon!

I heard that he stops by SF to show other jewelers so I figured it's better to play with toys in person than online anyways.

Are you more available on weekends? I'm pretty flexible myself. I was just going collect some input and then set some date/time, though I'm kind of scared of also coordinating this thing too!

I'm pretty flexible as well, though this coming weekend, I will, in fact, be in Tucson of all places! After that, with advance notice, I can make any time except for Monday nights and Tuesday afternoons/early evening.

Would a jewelry store be willing to host a "gem night" or something so the pressure is off of you to buy? Kind of like a trunk show.

I'm a noob and none of you know me well, but I would participate if I was in the area. Unfortunately, my trip to SF doesn't begin until 2/15.

Well D & H is three blocks from the muni underground ( in the Castro ), a well lit area with lots of people walking around. There is also Gallery of Jewels in the Noe Valley. I know they do trunk shows.

To get to the MUNI underground you can transfer underground at Embarcadero.

Do you know by any chance how comfortable Gemcal is with trunk shows? Would they be hesitant to have to shell out bucks to park out at a jewelers?

Hemi responded that his flight reservations got screwed up and was unable to stay in SF. He was really sorry that he was unable to make it.

However, he'll be dropping in the area in May! He suggested that organize this idea way ahead, which I agree since this kind of spiraled into a crazy event but it sounds like a great opportunity for bay area PSers!

Gosh if Hemi is this much of a pleasure to deal with when things don't go perfectly I can't imagine what a success it would be to make purchases with him!
