My Matron of Honor told me last night that she is expecting in July. My wedding is May 13th.

Here is the deal. I AM SOOO EXCITED FOR HER!!! I think children are miracles and that this is so much more important a thing than a wedding. I know that she will do anything she can to be in the wedding. But... In her last pregnancy she was on bed rest the last two months. What happens if in.. April.. they put her on bed rest. Also, we have found a Bmaid dress for a pregnant Bmaid. itwill look lovely, but does anyone know how this wroks, since a woman''s body can change so fast?

I was 7 months pregnant for my sister''s wedding a few years ago. What we had to do was order the BM dress (from David''s) in a hu-mungo size and my mom, who is really good with sewing, took it in for me. It was a halter style dress, that I thought was going to look awful, but it had an empire waist and wound up looking great.

Are you having your ceremony at a church? What they did for me was put a chair up by the alter so I could sit. I wasn''t on bedrest but I didn''t want to stand the whole time either.

If they put your friend on bed rest, well, there probably isn''t much you can do, except maybe have her already up front so she doesn''t have to walk down the aisle.

Can you maybe have 2 Maid of Honors, just in case she has to be put on bed rest?

Hopefully she won''t have to be put on bedrest, or at the very least, she''ll be able to attend the wedding but not the reception.

I know that Davids and a couple of other shops have preggo bellies that women can try on to determine what it will look like at a certain time in their pregnancy. Maybe you could see if she can try one on with the dress. Also, if she is put on bedrest (let's hope not!), then please make sure she follows doctor's orders (a wedding is not worth endangering a baby's life or the mother's). Maybe she can talk to her doctor about it and find out what they think. I think having two maid of honors would be a great idea, and another bridesmaid of yours (or even another friend) can feel more special too!

I currently have a bridesmaid that is trying to get pregnant after two years of marriage. I'm so excited for her and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Just in case, she ordered her dress a little big and I've made sure that she can exchange her dress if need be. Luckily, the dress is empire waist so if she's showing a little bit, it should look ok. I think pregnant women are the cutest women in the world!

Pick an empire waist dress (waist is just below bustline and way above natural waist) with lots of extra, loose, free-flowing fabric below it. That way it will still be pretty but her stomach will have lots of room to grow without having to worry about alterations or taking it in. How exciting for her, and what a trooper to still be willing to hang in there! Another thing to consider though, is maybe having a chair/bar stool up there for her to sit on/lean against in case she gets tired standing up there.

Something like this maybe (from Jessica McClintock):

Or this from Watters (although Watters might be kinda pricey):

I was in a wedding a few years ago as the maid of honor (not pregnant) but one of the bridesmaids was about ready to go! I am short, she''s short, one other BM was med height but heavier, and one was very tall and thin. Talk about dressing for variety! So the bride chose empire waist long black dresses with those scarf / shoulder shawl thingies for us to wear (around our necks, hanging down in back). They were very reasonable (less than $100 from Chadwick''s, if I recall), and very wearable after the wedding. We all looked lovely!

First of all congratulations to your friend. That is wonderful news. I really like the dress posted above (from Jessica McClintock

I''m not sure how the whole ordering a dress for a pregnant lady works, but the company I am ordering my BM dresses from has the cutest maternity dresses (www.ariadress.com) you should check it out! I hope she can be there for you!

I also think the empire waisted dresses are perfect, but keep in mind that the bust area most likely will need some alteration, at that point in her pregnancy, her breasts are going to expand a bit.

Don''t want her in a too-snug up top dress. I know from experience that is not comfy. (I''m sure a lot of us do!) What about shoes? Something comfortable, too? The only reason I thought of this was my cousin is 7 months pregnant, and last week we were at a ceremony, and her feet were killing her. Good luck!
