My head is spinning when it comes to buying a spacer band.

Is $350 a reasonable price for a 14 K gold, very thin, plain spacer band? $600 for a platinum one from the same jeweler? I've seen a lot less expensive on Etsy and wonder what the differences are.

Is there a difference in the quality (not just widths) between spacer bands of the same metal made by different jewelers?

Help please.

How many mm? I think that is needed to get an idea of what you are paying for.

I would just get a spacer from Etsy. You can find some really nice ones. What are you looking for? MM height and width, plain or detailed?

I think you can do better price-wise. What is your ring size?

I asked but haven't received an answer yet.

I've never used a spacer before; so I don't really know what I need. Something very low rise...

Ok, a couple things. For stacking/protecting your ring design(s) from diamonds rubbing I tend to like knife edge bands. Reason being, knife edge bands can look thinner because it comes to a point. They can also provide what I call "movement protection"....since we are not barbie/ken dolls with fingers frozen in one position. So, the fact that the knife edge comes to a conical point, with finger movement, the diamonds have the knife edge to still come into contact with--instead of the ring you are trying to protect. Any protection afforded by an overly thin spacer can be "overcome" with the protrusions of the design/prongs you wish to protect on one side and the diamond band from the other side.

I have found that a knife edge will provide the "spacing" you need, while the conical planes that make it a knife edge lean away from the designs you are trying to protect-such as that filigree on one of your rings.

I think a channel set diamond band could work well with your sapphire and your ruby rings without the need for a spacer. But, in order to protect that filigree work, I would still be afraid of a channel set diamond band "flattening" or otherwise denting that filigree work.

Also, consider going up just a tad from your normal ring size when stacking because using all your same ring size on a stack will make the rings too snug as you go up your finger.

Just for some ideas:
Here is a 14k yellow gold knife edge, in a size 8 for 230.00

Here is a knife edge platinum Tiffany for 313.00 from Japan. I have never had a problem with fakes buying from Japan.

Here is an antique platinum band for 275.00 from US seller:

I thought the prices was crazy when I was searching for a spacer. Plus most of the bands were 1-2mm thick. I wanted something under 0.8mm and less than $100.

I made model rings out of paper clips and scrap electrical copper wire to figure out the thickness I wanted between my rings. Can you find metal wire around the house to do the same?

I ordered a platinum band from this Etsy seller. They had fast production times and offered quarter sizes. They have a store in Montreal but ship across Canada and the US through their Etsy store. It's simply platinum wire with a fine solder. I asked how the ring was made.

I also came across these 2 stores. I haven't ordered from them but were recommended by a colleague.
White Gold 0.6mm https://auratenewyork.com/products/stackable-ring
White Gold 1.0mm https://mejuri.com/shop/products/stacker-ring

Thin sterling silver rings are under $20 if you don't mind they will tarnish and need to be polished.

So, there is seemingly endless quantity on Etsy :bigsmile:Any of these places will do whatever metal you prefer.

I bought a little 1mm from here
The ouroboros spacer I always wear is Agatha, and she came from
