For the last few months there has been a certain Scott Kay ring that I had my heart set on! Fast forward to last Friday when my boyfriend says "Let''s go buy the ring."

My jaw drops, hits the floor and I really think he''s kidding. We''ve looked before but this was for real!

So, off we go to buy a ring. And I don''t feel the love for the SK anymore. Or really any of them. How can that be?? I think I have this image in my head of the perfect ring and I can''t settle for anything else. I''m just afraid the moment will pass and he''ll not want to shop anymore. I know that''s not true but whatever...

Any other LIW''s have this issue? Or does everyone have their act together and know exactly what you want

I didn''t have this problem the first time around. I was young and didn''t care. My BF even acknowledges the fact that he''d be afraid to buy me a ring cause I know what''s out there now

Now I''m searching out internet sites and lusting after rings I can''t even see IRL!! Just a vent...

Aww, sorry to hear you''ve fallen out of love with your previous ring choice. I think it happens to LIW''s more than you may think. Anyway, I wouldn''t worry too much about your BF throwing his hands up and deciding not to get you a ring just because you can''t decide right this minute which setting speaks to your heart...

Have you thought about getting a simple solitaire setting for whatever diamond you choose now or in the near future, and then resetting when you find one you really fall in love with?

I was starting to worry that FF was getting frustrated with me because I couldn''t find the exact setting I wanted. One day I just told him that *I* was feeling really frustrated, and that I was sorry I was being so picky and that it was taking so long. His response was that it didn''t matter, it wasn''t a problem, and he just wanted me to be happy. He said we could keep looking, or we could go custom, but he wanted to make sure I got the perfect ring. He told me in no uncertain terms that he didn''t want me to "settle" for something that I liked, but didn''t love.

I don''t think you need to worry, just make sure you keep him in the loop (if he wants to be in the loop). My guy actually really enjoyed the process and liked talking about it and telling me his opinions on different styles of settings.

StarSparkle This is exactly what my BF said, too. He doesn''t want me to settle for a certain ring just because now he''s ready to make the purchase. It''s funny cause I''ve wanted to get the ring for a few months and now I can''t make up my mind.

Ironically, right after I posted this thread, I got an email from ERD.com and I''m going to talk to them in the AM about a center stone for a ring I contacted them about!! WooHoo!!

Very exciting! What shape are you looking at?

Hi Star--

I''m thinking round, mostly because I''m set on a squarish halo setting and it looks cool with the round diamond. BF likes the look, too, and I want him to have *some* say in it

hi,

i have the same problem too. when i first saw asscher halo rings, it was love at first sight. i was sure i wanted it for my ering. i even created an asscher halo ering file just to save all the pics i''ve seen here on ps and elsewhere. then a few months ago, i tried on 2 halo rings with my bf (just for fun) and somehow it didn''t look as nice on me as it did on the other ps''ers. maybe coz my finger size is small (i think i''m a 3.5 or 3.75)? bf didn''t like it too; he said it looked too busy and that halo took the attention away from the center stone (no offense to all halo owners). i tried on a 3-stone ring and he said he liked that style better. so now i''m torn between a 3 stone or solitaire.

i was so stressed out last week that i told bf i didn''t want to shop anymore. but here i am (1 week later) and we''re checking out loose stones this weekend. hehe

right now, i''m more inclined to getting the 3 stone ring coz it will symbolize our past, present, and future (sound cheesy but true) and i think i''ve fallen more in love with that style after seeing widget''s 3 stone asscher masterpiece. it''s to die for!!!

That will be lovely! FF really disliked the look with a halo. I was a little sad about that, but I know that if I had really pushed it, he would have caved in. I like the fact that what he ended up buying is something that we both loved and wanted.

I would love to help you but I have been scrutinized for knowing which ring I want on another thread so........lol (Im kidding girls)

Honestly, maybe try picking out which kind of diamond cut you like ie princess, round etc and then go off of that searching for that type of cut diamond setting. Good luck in your search. Im sure you will find "the one!"

ktdid! I was sooo in your situation 2 years ago. I never even thought much about the ring because a) I never thought I would get married and thus never had the fantasy and b) It really wasn''t the most important thing, the marriage was. Fast fwd to now (the ring is being made and I worked through the whole process of creating it) I''m officially obsessed about it, haha.

But back to my point. Two years ago, when I realized marriage would be in the future, I figured I should start looking around to get an idea of what I would like. Well....I DIDN''T LIKE A SINGLE THING!! It was horrible. I whined to him that we would have to get married without an Ering because I simply hated them all. Then I discovered the Tiffany Legacy. I drooled over that ring. But I also figured it was out of our price range. So I kept looking, but nothing was better than that darn Legacy! Then I discovered Ritani (endless love halo) and saw it on the hands of a few women here and decided I liked it a bit but prefered the three stone version. I convinced my bf to let me go try it on and *gasp* I hated it as an Ering, it would hide the wedding band. Since I was in the store I decided to try on the 1 stone version, just for the heck of it. Well, we both fell for it. Who knew? So, that was settled, we would get the Ritani. Fast fwd (lol, again?) to a month or so later and I found a design which looked just like the Tiffany Legacy but it was round! I was so excited. After talking with some lovely PS folks, I decided to get Whiteflash to custom make it, and that''s what we''re waiting on. (note: We went to Tiffany before this and I tried on the Legacy, we both thought it was gorgeous but also thought a round stone would be better...I''m hoping on a pink Legacy one day

So, my recommendation? Try on things you think you don''t like. It''s funny how your mind can change once you see it on your hand.

Thanks for all the replies ladies! How''s this for going a full 180-- I''m thinking of getting a ring from ERD that I won''t even be able to try on till it''s done and sent to me!!?? The more I look at the more I think it''s perfect. Something about it just sings to me

Can you find a ring similar to try on? From what I read around here, you can''t go wrong with ERD. Good luck!

Yay, I''m happy for you! That''s basically how it was for me, but the ring I got custom from WF was similar to the one I liked at the B&M.

Good luck!
