Has anyone encountered problems with returns using an American Express card? My card is still fairly new, and I returned a jewelry purchase that I had made online about 1.5 months ago. I never got the credit, and I contacted the company about it. Since it had been so long, the associate said she would put the return through immediately and re-took my credit card info. 2 days later I got an email from the company saying the credit didn''t go through because there was some sort of problem, and they were working on it. This is still in the works.

Then last week I returned an order I made through Victoria''s Secret online. I got an email confirmation that they received my return and that it was being processed, but the refund still hasn''t shown up on my American Express account even though the VS account shows that they already processed it, so now I''m getting worried that there is some sort of problem doing returns. Anyone have any similar experiences or advice? I will be calling the credit card company if these returns aren''t processed by the end of the week, but just wanted to see if there''s something here that I''m missing.

Hmmm... that''s very strange. I''ve been a loyal AmEx user for over 15 years and I''ve never had a single problem. If I understand your post correctly you''ve spoken with two vendors; why not call AmEx and ask them what might be going on?

Sometimes it can take a few cycles for returns to process on your credit card.

So I called AmEx today, and all they could tell me is that maybe they are entering the account number wrong. I''ve called the jewelry company the past 2 days, and just got voicemail, and I tried emailing them again. I know the vs one could take a little while to go through, but the jewelry one is really making me nervous since they said there was a processing problem.

That is strange! I have had AMEX for a number of years and they''ve always been really helpful in situations like this. Definitely contact those vendors again to make sure that they are using the correct numbers. You can also have AMEX to do an investigation and they might give you credit for the return until everything is straightened out. Good luck!

VS does take a while to get a return! However, I can't believe that you are having such a problem with a return... Do you have a reciept for the return at the jewelers?
