OK, ladies. If you check out the Show Me the Ring thread, you can tell my nails were looking really bad. I was growing them, then I got all nervous one weekend and bit them off. Sure enough, my guy proposes a week and a half after I chewed off all my nails.

Anyway, someone recommended Neutrogena Nail Enhancer and I've been using it for a week now.

My nails look a million times better and are super hard. They are practically over the tip. They have grown and look so nice. Ben asked me last night if I was wearing tips! lol. Also, it's not like polish. It dries right away. LOVE it.

Anyway, for those who are trying to grow their nails, check it out.

EDIT: Crap! I meant to write "Product recommendation!" not "production"! I'm tired. Excuse the typo.

Thanks for the tip!
My nails are looking horrible and I can''t seem to stop picking at them. For some reason, that''s one thing that my bf really notices. He keeps telling me that my nails look terrible.

I''m going on vacation Thursday so I''m hoping that some time in the sun will distract me!

Ammayernyc - you live in NYC, right? I got it at Duane Reade. Good luck! Honestly, it's the best stuff I have ever used on my nails. Better than Nailtique and better than Nail Envy...

I'm surprised how much it has helped my nails.

I also have a follow-up "production recommendation" (

Sorry...it was so cute I couldn't resist!)...

It's called "No More Wraps" by Nail Laminate. I've only been able to find it in Ulta.
The link is: http://www.ulta.com/control/product/~product_id=1891277

Basically, it has fine silk fibers in a nail polish format...so you don't have to silkwrap your nails, but it sure keeps them hardened!! Use it under nail polish and it helps prevent chips, cracks, etc. and it's only $3.99 a bottle!!! I've been using it for years!!!! And it comes off so easily with nail polish remover!!

I also wanna recommend the "ridge filling basecoat" by Essie. My nails tend to peel and I thought "yeah right - this basecoat won''t fill in anything"...but it''s awesome!!! And my nails are growing!

Thanks for the recommendation!!! I had silk wraps years ago and used nailtiques when I had them removed--and that stuff burned like a bi-atch! SO I''m glad to know there''s something else out there (I have taken practice pics of my empty sad little left hand, and hate how stubby my nails are.) THANKS

I''d just like to add that, thanks to Morticia and this thread, I tried the Neutrogena stuff and I LOVE IT! Especially the fact that it dries instantly and I can have well-manicured looking nails so quickly and easily!!! I was actually wearing it on my nails the night Rich proposed! hehe! Seriously, it''s great, you guys should all try it!

Can the Neutrogena Instant Nail Enhancer be found in drug stores? I searched online at CVS, Eckerd, etc., but can''t seem to find it. Just my luck!

lol.

I use Nail Envy all the time but I''m ready for a change. I really like Nail Envy but if that stuff is better??? Then I want it!

Okay...I need help!!

My nails usually grow nice and long, which compliments my long, slender fingers. Unfortunately, I''ve taken up SCUBA diving and 1/2 my nails have broken! Now I have to cut them all off to make them even (1/2 short and 1/2 long don''t sit well for me). So does anyone have suggestions as to what I can do to make my nails looks nice althought they''re short? My instructor informed me NOT to bother with acrylics because they''ll pop right off and they''ll hurt worse if I''m trying to assemble/break-down my equipment...any thoughts??

Hey ladies!! I read a ton more than i post, but I thought i''d chime in on this one!! I relate completely to all of you, and while i''m hoping my big day is sometime in the next 30-60 days, i''m working on trying to get my nails in shape as well! I''ve always had problem nails, chipping, splitting, not growing fast, etc. and was happy to see someone found a good product!! I live in North Carolina and checked Eckerd''s WalGreens, and the larger grocery stores and couldn''t find the Neutrogena product -- so I just went online to www.drugstore.com and bought 2 tubes of it, in the pearl color for $8.99/piece! For those ladies who can''t find it locally, i wanted to share an option!

I''ll report back when i''ve received it, but i''m sure if its worked for you guys it''ll help me too! :)

thanks!!!

I should have read this post earlier! Up until now I''ve always been forced to have "short" nails as mine would start to grow out then they''d start to seperate from the sides and crack inward. I tried everything; vitamins, nail polish, nail fortifiers...nothing worked. I have strong nails but they wouldn''t grow out.

One day I started filing my thumnails more pointed vs. square to see if I could save my fingernail before it "fell" off and low and behold it worked. Took a good look at the sides of my nails and realized the problem. The nails were pushing too hard against the skin on either side right at the edges and this caused them to well, fall off. So I''ve filled them ALL slightly pointed vs. square and I haven''t had a problem since.

Kinda silly, I''ve been spending way too much money trying to keep them long and it wasn''t my nails but their shape! So if yours don''t grow file the corners off and that will probably help.

thanks for the info, Morticia!

I headed to Target after work and bought a tube of the pearl sheen (they didn''t have the buff) and even if it does nothing for the strength of my nails it''s worth it, my nails have a subtle shimmer that dried instantly and will definitely be great for someone like me who can''t keep polish on. I was dreading having to go the "fake" route, with fear I would be a slave to fill-ins and all that stuff, but with my new job in sales I needed something a little more dressy than bare nails. I''m going to keep looking for the buff color and will probably get a couple of tubes for my co-workers who had to part with their artificial nails and are at a loss for what to do with their naturals during recovery.

I should also add that Target had it on sale today for $4.99 (which probably ends Sat)

I just wanted to bump this to let everyone know that after a long hiatus, I found some of this stuff at Target yesterday. Woo!

Must make trip to Target today to find this stuff!! My nails are very soft and brittle, and I''m bad about not waring gloves when I clean. Thanks so much for the recommendation!!

I tried this stuff, and when your hands get wet, it becomes soft and peels off. Kinda wierd. But it does put a nice shine on your fingernails when your first put it on

I found this stuff by accident - and only saw this thread after I bought it.
I have to say that after using this stuff and the cuticle massage cream from Revlon my nails are SUPER long.
I am a LONG time nail biter and have been doing really well (I think putting this stuff on everyday helps me to stop the biting)
This is truly the fastest my nails have ever grown.
I am using the BUFF version (maybe I''ll try out the pearl too). I''ve washed my hands / done the dishes (no dishwasher!!) and haven''t had any problems with it peeling off so maybe that is just the pearl version?
So far I am LOVING it.

I am also trying to grow out my nails --- pre-proposal preparations I guess!!! I have been using a sweet almond oil cuticle cream from The Body Shop. It definitely helps my nails to grow, but I am hoping that this Neutrogena product can help with the strength a bit. I tried to look for it this weekend, but I wasn''t able to find it anywhere. So where are you ladies buying the product? I am in Canada as well, so I wonder if that is part of the reason I can''t find it? Suggestions please!
