Promise ring

Hey all! Just wanted to share the promise ring that I recieved from my boyfriend of three years. We are both 20 and still in school so we decided to wait on the engagement until it was a little more practical (and have more life experience and money!). I also bought him a 4mm Benchmark platinum band. I know the promise ring thing is kind of dorky, but when I see the sparkle on my finger I''m reminded of how lucky I am to have found my soulmate so young! Also, it keeps the other men away! I don''t have a digital camera as of yet, but I found a picture of the ring on the store website. Take care everyone! Have a great holiday!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. No, he is superstitious about actually saying the words "will you marry me". But he teases me about saying it in the future, probably in 3 years or so, no hurry! I don't really know if I will trade up or not, it has such special meaning to me already!

Even if you "upgrade" in the future, I'd keep this one for sentimental reasons. Wear it on your right hand maybe!

Ahhh I once had a promise ring when I was young (and stupid) back when I was 18--little heart shaped diamond and sapphires. Boy was I young (and stupid)...but it sounds like you're much smarter than I was when I was young (and stupid), not to mention you're older!

I was happy to see your post on here, as my bf and I are also planning on exchanging "promise" rings. We, too, have decided that we will get married, but not until 2007, most likely, but still wanted to each have something as a physical symbol of our relationship.

Wow Haunani! What a coincidence! We were thinking around that date too haha. I'm glad to see we are not the only couple out there taking the promise ring seriously. I definently think they are a great thing when bought for the right reasons! I hope you two decide to get rings. It's fun picking them out, wearing them and pretending in the meantime...

I like your promise ring...It brings together three different cutting styles (round brilliant, baguette, and the princess center)..Very classy..Congrats...

We are definitely exchanging rings either Christmas (if they're back in time) or whenever we do get them back.

His is getting turned into a custom fit. We found the perfect ring for him in a "maul" jeweler and just didn't want the hassle of putting it together ourselves. It's a very simple 14k yellow gold ring with a barrel cut garnet. Absolutely no embellishment on it at all.

Mine is being custom made (sent the stones to Michael E. last week), and will resemble the ring pictured. The center stone will be a white sapphire and will have 3 stones on each side-aquamarine, swiss blue topaz, and london blue topaz, in white gold. I can't wait to see it!!

Where is that ring from? Could you provide a link to the website where it was purchased? A promise ring would be appropriate for my gf, we've been together for 4 years but are still in college and aren't quite ready for the big thing.
