Look at the Bacara Resort. My fiance proposed to me there on the beach a month or so back and it was wonderful. We went for the weekend and relaxed by the pool during the day and had nice dinners downtown at night.

I''ve been to El Encanto and it''s a beautiful setting, that would be a good spot too.

Thanks ellewoods for the advise!

Question for ya...do you have to stay at the Bacara Resort to get on the grounds to propose? cause I saw what it cost to stay there I cant afford to stay there

What kind of place are you looking for? A restaurant? Hotel? Beautiful outdoor scenery?

The El Encanto restaurant is awesome! Amazing food and absolutely incredible views. Call them ahead of time to make sure you get a primo table if you decide that's where you'd like to propose.

Bacara is ridiculously expensive, not many of us can afford it. You MIGHT be able to get on the grounds- technically it's private and only guests are allowed to stay but I've walked through the grounds before. I probably wouldn't recomend it though, that wouldn't be good if you were in the middle of proposing and a security guard came up and asked you to leave! Unfortunately in the summer tourist season will make all hotels way overpriced, so that might not be a good option as a place to propose.

If you're looking for a great scenic place to propose, there's an infinite amount in the Santa Barbara area. Campus Point (at UCSB) on the bluffs overlooking the ocean, on the pier, on a hike overlooking all of SB, many private beach areas, the Botanical Gardens, the rose gardens at the Mission.... I could go on and on.

Let me know what type of place you're looking for and I'll try and recomend something more specific. Good luck!

Ellewoods,
This is in reference to a post you put up a month ago about Mexico weddings.

My fiance and I are trying to plan out wedding in the Riviera Maya, but we are having difficulty finding the right Catholic church/chapel. You listed the Catholic Churches in the Maya:

Nuestra Señora del Carmen, downtown Playa del Carmen
Nuestra Señora de Fatima in the Ejido neighborhood of Playa del Carmen
Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in the Colosio area of Playa del Carmen
Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Puerto Aventuras
Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi in Xcaret
Chapel in Pueblo Akumal
Mission church in Tulum

Do you have any photos of these churches, websites or links to photos, or do you have a contact in Maya who I could reach to obtain photos of these churches? We are looking for a perfect little chappel, but it is extemely difficult to track down photos.

Any help would be grately appreciated.

Ryan
