Hi I thought it would be nice to make a list high in protein foods. I am trying hard to not eat as many carbs (I am such a bread lover).

Chicken breast, 3.5 oz - 30 grams protein
Tuna, 6 oz can - 40 grams of protein
Most cuts of beef – 7 grams of protein per ounce
Canadian-style bacon (back bacon), slice – 5 – 6grams
Egg, large - 6 grams protein
Milk, 1 cup - 8 grams
Cottage cheese, ½ cup - 15 grams
Yogurt, 1 cup – usually 8-12 grams, check label
Soft cheeses (Mozzarella, Brie, Camembert) – 6 grams per oz
Medium cheeses (Cheddar, Swiss) – 7 or 8 grams per oz
Hard cheeses (Parmesan) – 10 grams per oz
Peanut butter, 2 Tablespoons - 8 grams protein
Almonds, ¼ cup – 8 grams
Peanuts, ¼ cup – 9 grams
Most beans (black, pinto, lentils, etc) about 7-10 grams protein per half cup of cooked beans

Quinoa is known for its high protein content, but there''s a lot more to this almost-grain than that! Quinoa is:

higher in protein than any other grain: quinoa is 16% protein compared to 7.5% in rice, 10% in millet and 14% from wheat (1)
contains all of the essential amino acids, making it a "complete protein," unlike true grains
a good source of dietary fiber
rich in E and B vitamins
high in minerals including calcium, iron, copper, phosphorus, magnesium and manganese
Cashew nuts 20g
Whey protein

Thank you Katebar and San Diego Lady!!! Wow, 20 grams of protein in cashews; awesome!

Tofu 9g protein 80 cal 4g fat
Seitan 11 g 80 cal 0 fat
Though cashews have fat content, the fat is mono-unsaturated fat which is shown to protect the heart. Cashew nuts are also a good source of potassium, B vitamins and foliate. They contain useful amounts of magnesium, phosphorous, selenium and copper. You just need to watch the salt content if buying the roasted ones.

HI:

I am always looking for sources of high quality protein--thanks ya''ll for the contributions!

I happened across John West products in the organic market and love their canned fish. I know it is kinda barfy to some folks, but I''d rather eat the mackeral fillets than tuna. You can buy it packed in sauces, but I buy it in water/veg. oil and it is 16 gms protein in a 125mg. serving. And all those lovely Omega Oils.

I just discovered Special K Protein Plus
10 g protein in 3/4 cup and yummy!

Wild King Salmon 20 grams for around 3 oz. Yummmy!

Thanks Skippy. I was hoping to see M&M''s here but no such luck. Just kidding.
