Hey All,
I was catching up with two old college friends this afternoon and one commented on how she''s taken up puppeteering as a recent hobby. While we were conversing about wedding plans, we joked about her putting on a puppet show at the reception. Now, I wouldn''t want to make the wedding into a circus, but the idea intrigued me.

See, we have a 4 hour period between the wedding and reception. We''re offering babysitting in two hotel suites for my our several nieces/nephews/little cousins/family friends'' kids and that''s a long period for the kids to have to be entertained. Do you think that a puppet show would be something the kids would really enjoy or is that one less detail we ought to worry about?

It sounds cute...as long as this is something that won''t stress you out, or cause you an ounce of worry...go for it. But don''t take on more than you need to.

I think it''s a cute idea and a nice thought for people who are bringing kids. However, it''ll be something that''ll need significant organization. Can you hand it off as a project to another person, bridesmaid/groomsman/parent?

What is the age range of these children? I think this would only work for a specific age range. Too young or too old children would not appreciate the concept. Overall, I think it is great that you are trying to think about the children, but children are far better at creating a good time for themselves than adults. I don''t think you would need to make any arrangements for them, unless you wanted to.

Thanks, ladies. You all brought up some very good points. We plan on having about 10 - 15 kids at the babysitting rooms, ranging in age from 2 - 9 yrs old. The "tweens" and teens will probably attend the actual reception, but the younger kids will need the babysitting. Most of those children will be around 4 - 7, so I was thinking they might really appreciate the performance. I''m going to have a couple of babysitters on hand throughout the day and my friend had offered to do the puppeteering. Not sure what''s involved, but she seemed open to visiting the babysitting site, making the puppets, and leading the performance. Sounds like there''s minimal set-up and prep on our end and it would be something unique and fun for the kids prospectively. I just regret not being able to be there to see it since we''ll probably have our pictures taken during the downtime between reception and ceremony.
