Well, BF has finally got enough money saved that he feels like he could afford a puppy! He''s been wanting one for years, but absolutely refused to look until he felt like he could financially handle anything that might happen, and it looks like the time has come.

He''s sent out an inquiry about a puppy at a shelter nearby. It''s just the right age, the right breed (Lab/Boxer mix), the right "look"...perfect. But it was pictured with another puppy, so he''s asked if they can be separated, and is hoping that they can be. If so, I''m pretty certain that he''ll be submitting his application tonight. Then he''d have to go through an interview and reference checks, but maybe he''d have the puppy within a few weeks? Sooner, I hope...but he''s really got his heart set on this dog. So please, can you guys toss some dust our way? It''d really be just the kind of Christmas gift he needs.

**********Mega-dust********** to you both that this this adoption works out!!!! Yay for adopting shelter puppies!!!!

Good for you for choosing to adopt a shelter pet!

What a wonderful Holiday present it would be to know that the pup is yours. Sending dust your way...

Turns out that they adopted the puppies out to the same family yesterday.

Can I be a little mad at life on his account? This has happened to him with EVERYTHING lately. Jobs, housing, roommates, and now this.

Oh well. Good for the puppies at least.

So sorry to hear this news for your boyfriend''s sake (but you''re right - good for the puppies). I have faith that the perfect puppy will come along for him though - and please tell him thank you for me for being such a prepared, responsible soon-to-be-owner, and for wanting to rescue a shelter puppy. I volunteer in a shelter and we see the awful results of people who aren''t as wonderful about their pets as he sounds like he will be, and it really warms my heart to know there are those out there who are so committed to doing the right thing by their pets.

I''ll keep my fingers crossed that the perfect puppy comes along soon for your bf.

Aw, it''s really nice that your bf is so responsible and wants to adopt a shelter puppy. They''re the bestest in my book. Here''s some *puppy dust* that the perfect puppy is coming soon!

AG, thank you so much. That made me tear up a little.

I do have faith that the perfect dog will find him. And when it does, he''ll forget about all the dogs that didn''t work out. But it''s SO hard to watch him get his heart broken. He''s been so careful about saving money and not looking at puppies so he doesn''t fall in love. And then what happens? This. And in a week, he''ll be thrilled that the puppies were adopted together. But today he''s disappointed.

Oh well. There will be a dog. There will be a great dog that''ll play fetch and go for runs and play at the park. There will be a great dog that gets up on the bed when BF is sick, that snuggles him when he''s had a bad day, and that sticks by his side and lets BF spoil him. There will, there will, there will.

I''m sorry that the puppy didn''t work out-there will definitely be another puppy out there for him. I love how responsible he is being about it. Sending dust for him to get a puppy soon!
