Hi there, I really need your group's advice.
I received very nice 3 ctw diamond studs as a gift. The are 4 prongs with push backs. The are gorgeous but droop just a little bit, so when you look at me, you don't see the whole diamond, they are "looking down" maybe 20 degrees? Sorry , english is not my first language :)
Then, I was as Costco one day, changing my tires and tried 2 ctw diamond studs and realized they had much bigger diameter backs (protectors). I tried them on and they didn't droop at all. Then I tried my 3 ctw studs with Costco push backs and they did't droop. Plus they were so much easier to put on and off because mine are super tiny.
Do you think it's possible to get bigger push backs for the same post I have , without resetting the whole thing?Mine are platinum , but Costco jumbo backs are white gold. I don't mine having white gold backs, it's not a problem but will they be compatible with my posts? Last thing I want is to lose them.
Also, should I try silicone backs or it will look super silly?

Thank you for your help

I wear the large disk silicon backs from Amazon, you can not see them and there is no drooping. 30725CBF-64C5-4ACF-BD4C-7A2F7B156DA7.jpeg

You should be able to order larger push backs so your diamonds don't droop, but I'd buy them in platinum to match the platinum post.

I wear these with my studs:

Before that for many years I used these plastic discs (put this on and then your earring back), and that worked really well too:

Large diameter, white gold push backs work more smoothly than platinum on platinum backs. Platinum on platinum friction push backs are "sticky", self adhesive. Large diameter will help to stabilize the studs and white gold friction backs are more secure (more springy) than platinum friction backs for better security without "galling" as platinum wants to do.

The large base silicone backs are good, inexpensive, and can't be seen from the out-facing surface of the ear. I have sent those hundred packs from Amazon to clients wirh concerns.

Thank you so much! This is so true! They are sticky, plus small protectors are hard to get on and off.
I found Guardian II comfort trigger post and backs that look bigger than my protector backs. Were you referring to them? They are 7.1mm and my protector backs are 6.2. Is this a big enough difference? Are they considered large diameter push backs?

Also 7.1 mm guardian II backs supposedly go with .042mm thick posts. My post is .034mm in diameter. is it a problem? Will the lock be secure enough?

If i change the thickness of the guardian II post to .034, the diameter of the push back goes down to 6.2mm.

Thanks again,
Yana

Thank you so much for your replay.
I tried the backs you referred to from Amazon, and they are pretty hard to get on and off. I feel like I have to apply considerable amount of force to get them on. Was afraid to bend them, since I was told platinum was a soft metal :)

I like the Guardian II system but you don't want to use a Guardian II clutch back on a thin ear post. The efficacy of the clutch depends on the diameter of the post and the depth of the notches in a proper Guardian II post.

However, I like the Stuller Item #: 2000319:1000:S friction nut in 14k.w. for not only standard posts but also with Guardian II posts. The Guardian II clutch mechanisms will eventually load up with goo which will bind the mechanism and defeat the spring. The wg friction back Medium 14KW - mm Friction back.JPGhas no moving parts to bind.

Thank you so much for your replay! It’s very helpful. This is my .034” post. Are you saying the jumbo friction post 2000319 should fit it?

Don't worry, many of us experience earring drooping and there are lots of different solutions!

I use three different items depending on which earrings I'm wearing. I'd recommend you buy and try a few different products and see which works best for you and your particular earrings.

Here are the three I use:

For my larger earrings and studs I replace the backs with these:

For my smaller to mid-sized earrings and studs I replace the backs with these:

Finally, I use these. The clear plastic earrings discs can be used with any earrings and your existing backs (you don't need to buy new backs.) These are the least expensive option and they work well. I use these on my Van Cleef & Arpels Omega backs and sometimes on my larger studs for extra support. You put them between the back of your earlobe and your earring back. These discs come with different sized holes, so if your posts are thicker, make sure you buy discs with larger holes.

I agree. This group is great!

I got these on Amazon.com and had it shipped to Canada. My ears are pierced at an angle. They've made such a difference perking up my 6-8mm CZ studs and pearls.
