I am committing to doing pushups and situps on the balance ball - EVERYDAY whether or not I can make it to the gym.
(just wanted to let you know..hehe)

Good lord, you''ve got willpower! Good for you! Is it sad that I sit on my balance ball to watch T.V?

Is it sad that I also sit on the ball and watch TV?

sitting on the ball is great actually!! believe it or not to keep balanced on the ball while sitting down, you actually are using your core stomach muscles as well. it''s not quite AS effective as if you are doing exercises on the ball while watching TV (which i do) but it''s better than just sitting on the couch and watching TV!

Ha,
I cannot keep a balance ball in my home! My puppies like to play with them too much! (Imagine two great danes playing with a balance ball--CHAOS!) I have to go to the gym to use one.
The balance ball is AWESOME! I am a huge fan.
Keep up the good work, make sure to add some variety to your daily workouts!

I want to be in the pushup and situp balance ball club too!

I have vowed that in my three remaining months- I AM GOING TO GET FIT!
I attended my first bikram yoga class Monday night and I have never been SO SORE in my life!
Ahhhh! AND....I am going again tonight to be tortured some more!
You should see me try and sit down...it''s like I am pregnant with no belly or very old.....take your pick!

jorman you crack me up!

Good for you Snowhappy! When I joined my gym about 6 months ago, my trainer for orientation had me do like 5 crunches on a balance ball. I was so sore the next day I couldn''t believe it. I keep meaning to get one of those....

. One of these days I will break down. I''ve seen them in Target, but how do you blow them up when you get them home? Do they come with one of those blower-upper things? I''m totally clueless, lol!

Monarch, they do come w/something to blow them up. I bought mine from one of those tv infomercial things that also came w/a workout cd. Might also try Marshall''s b/c prob. cheaper than Target (even though I loooooove Target!).

Well, at least you guys are sitting on yours! I just look at mine while on the couch, in the living room.

Ok, I suppose I should be in this pushup/situp club too. I wish I was happier about it! Snow, you should come over to the LIW forum where we have a Daily Workout Thread.

Oh yeah! I was wondering if the workout thread was still going on :)

I''m going for a morning run today and I did situps and pushups last night :)

Good for you snow-happy! Just wanted to give you an ab exercise that I do that really works my abs. It''s called the circle crunch. Start on the floor with kees bent. With your abs pull your upper body towards your knees, without relaxing your abs, pull your upper body to your right side, then lay back partially (abs still flexed), next pull your upper body to your left side, finally end with your upper body pulled towards your knees. That is one rep. It''s basically a regular crunch with side crunchs. Once you get the form down (it''s a little awkward at first) it really burns all your abs (upper, side and lower). Good luck!

You have a lot more willpower than me. I really need to get one of those balls.

Bikram Yoga class no. 2 is over with- THANK GOD! That class kicks my butt. I know, I know- there is something just really wrong about working out in a room that is 104 degrees for an hour and a half, but I told you guys- I AM DETERMINED!

I need to get a ball too. I love those things (fabulous for watching American Idol I think). Back in the day when I had a gym membership I would take the yoga ball into the dressing room (because I didn''t want anyone to see me making a fool out of myself) and I would do situps for about an hour. It didn''t give me a six pack or anything but I felt good for trying!

AmantdeChat- ARE YOU INSANE? I can "feel the burn" and I haven''t even tried one yet. It''s only 8am here- it''s too early for that kind of pain!

AmantdeChat -- your exercise sounds CRAZY. I will try it out for sure but no guarantees I will be able to move the next day :P

jorman -- I''ve thought about doing Bikram Yoga but it sounds like an amazing workout! You ARE totally determined! The taking the ball into the locker room thing is so cute!! I felt so pale and lame running around the track this morning. I figured maybe I made someone else feel tan in comparison! I was wearing a tank top so I could kind of tan while running but also maybe blinded a few people and cars with my whiteness!

Oh well, baby steps with working out and baby steps with tanning

Snow Hap- That''s my next goal. TAN!! FI asked me this morning while sweetly kissing my forehead, "So, are you gonna tan some more?" Which translated means, "Please tan, you look so much better tan!" So I guess I need to get that set up. I did my 3 free tans, I just haven''t had time to start my membership in the middle of all this butt kicking yoga craziness. There are just never enough hours in a day! Will do today I think.

I am sure you are not THAT white! At least you have some color in your undertones naturally. I am a blonde haired green eyed Casper! You know it''s bad when people you think are really white, call you pale. BLAH!

Yeah, no joke AmantdeChat- My visual of you is this rock hard set of abs. Maybe you should change your avatar???

janna i could call you milk? would that make you feel better?

i am intrigued by this bikram thing....does your place have an option to pay like $10 and attend a class? maybe i will go with you one day!

jorman: LOL! I wish I had a rock hard set!! They are starting to show some definition, but I have this "pooch", for lack of a better word, that will NOT budge!
14.gif
It''s driving me crazy!

By the way, that yoga sounds intriguing. Unfortunately, I don''t think my gym offers it.

snow_happy: It''s not an easy exercise (can''t lie about that
1.gif
), but the key is to keep your muscles guessing. Switching up your exercises will keep your muscles from becoming used to the exercise and not working to their full potential and thus not giving you the results you want. Why do they have to be so difficult?!

amante, i have a little pooch sometimes too...and it''s basically FAT over my muscles. no way around it, you gotta get rid of the fat coating your muscles. you probably do have a six pack under there but you can''t see it because of the fat. (i got this from my trainer by the way). you have to change your diet and eat less fat and most likely carbs (carbs bloat you out and my bloating goes straight to my belly!!) to get rid of that gut area. unfortunately nothing else will do it, you could do situps or core work til the cows come home but until the fat burns off the belly then you won''t see the muscles!!

Oh it''s definitely fat over my muscle!

I have really been working on eating right (without going crazy and denying myself everything!) and watching the portions and calorie intake. But, good lord, it can be really hard sometimes!

The weekends are the worse. At least at work I can control, somewhat, what I take in. Plus I can get involved in a project or something and not think about eating/snacking. Not so on the weekends!

Wine is probably my number 1 downfall, along with pasta.

Sorry for the thread hijack snow_happy!

Mara- it is actually the 10 for $10 challenge. You get 10 days for $10 and you can got everyday if you want. That is what I am doing. I am gonna go Saturday Morning if you are interested. The class is at 8am. :)

I am loving it and I feel good about going. I swear after 2 classes I feel more toned. Totally weird, but good. :)

Oh,

How I wish that I had the discipline for YOGA! I know it''s just what I need, I am such a hyper spazz, I need calming, but in every class I"ve ever taken (okay, I''ve only taken two
31.gif
) My busy brain just wished that I was bouncing around or running.

Running is really my answer to toning! Since the house we tried to buy fell through, I''ve been running through neighborhoods that we''re interested in and house hunting. It really helps calm me, and is great for toning.

I''m a bit worried about the tanning thing too! But more that I need to avoid CRAZY tan lines since my dress is strapless! I spend far and away too much time outside, and am prone to farmer''s tans.

If only I could get FI to run with me... any advice for toning up the honey?
