Sorry for posting again so quickly after my hello thread, I just need to tell someone that isn't family!
This all happened pretty quickly. We both had high hopes that we'd find something that we both loved, but didn't think yesterday would be the day. We wandered around to a few jewellers, some that recommened and others we found online. Seeing as I wanted a blue sapphire, we ran into a lot of "why don't you want a diamond?" Got sick of answering why I chose to go a different path. We did come across a lot of helpful people, but nothing that I just fell in love with. Found a setting I liked, at a good price but the stone they had was too dark for my liking and was marked down due to the massive window in the bottom half of it.
Fast forward to a jewellers we made an appointment to see. We had spoken to them via email and they were incredibly positive on our budget and what I wanted. It was the first time we had both felt comfortable with a jeweller all day. We were able to ask questions, probably a lot of dumb ones too, but nonetheless the lady who took us through the whole process was fantastic. I went for a setting that I liked online, but absolutely fell in love with it in person. They had the perfect royal blue sapphire, that had a lot of character to it. We left for a while, had a coffee talked it over. My partner had already transferred the money for the deposit and was nudging me to go back. Walked back, deposit was placed and in up to 5 weeks my amazing white gold engagement ring will have been made! I'm soooo excited and needed to share with people!! It's hard to keep it in around friends.
Our families know what we are doing and that we put a deposit down, and we are getting pestered to make it official before we have the ring. But I think it would be nicer to do it with the ring, but if he does ask me before he has it, I'm not going to be saying no
