Putting out feelers to sell sapphire ring

I've had this ring for less than a year, but have found I'm just not wearing it. I haven't listed it yet, but am thinking about it. I would be willing to sell as the whole ring or just the setting. Just wanted to see what kind of interest there might be.

setting is 18kt white gold
sapphire is 1.26 carat, a little over 6mm and from Sri Lanka

What were you hoping to get for it.

Good question! I'm actually not sure. I guess it depends on whether I sell the whole ring or pull the sapphire out of it. I paid $4k for it but of course, that was retail.

Do you have a report or anything on the sapphire proving orgin and treatment? That will GREATLY influence the price of the ring.

The stone didn't come with a report, but I believe my paperwork simply states Sri Lanka origin. I've assumed heat treatment,as it was sold to me as "natural".

Eh, I suggest you read up on sapphire treatment. Many things can be called natural.

Honestly unless you are willing to send in your sapphire to AGL to prove the treatment and orgin, I doubt you will recope anywhere near what you paid for the ring. I would just keep it and enjoy it! If you buy a sapphire again definitely read up on treatment and never take anyone's word for what it is without an AGL report.

Yes I'm well aware of different sapphire treatments. I also know I won't get anywhere near what I paid. As I said, I was considering selling just the setting. I actually like the sapphire and wouldn't mind keeping it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Where was this ring purchased from? Is the setting vintage?

Thanks!

The stone is really perfect in the setting, so I would keep it as it is! You don't get much at all for selling used settings.

It was purchased from a family owned jewelry store that's been in business where I live for many years. The setting is a vintage repro. Thanks for asking. :)
