How did you display your table names so that they didn''t distract from your centerpieces? What about including things like salt and pepper shakers? I have worked so hard coming up with the design of our tables and now there is all this other stuff that needs to be there and I am having trouble picturing it. I need to put table names on the tables, but want to do it in a way that doesn''t mesh with the centerpieces (we are using curly willow, origami cranes, and river stones). Is this something that people just don''t worry about? I have never been to a wedding that did table names, only assigned seating (as in chairs) or completely open seating. Thanks.

I would just use a simple card/paper holder. This is what I am doing for mine

Also, I am not doing table1, table2 as such... instead we are naming the tables using places in australia (where FI comes from) and indonesia (where I''m from).

Do you have a pic of your centrepiece? That would help me picture it better and maybe give you more ideas

My table names are going to be incorporated into the centerpieces. We are naming tables after important dates in our lives and adding a picture and short story related to the date on large tents made of fancy cardstock. I found a few holders of what I know I have seen, but don''t have much time to search for this morning. Maybe the first one will work best to be unnoticeable or maybe you want to add another trinket to your table in a themed holder.

Katamari, I immediately thought of these for you: http://www.curbly.com/DIY-Maven/posts/6465-how-to-make-a-paper-lantern-centerpiece. Think that would work with your centerpiece?

For my table numbers, I''m borrowing this idea from another PS''er and framing menu cards with the table number in the header.

The table menu idea is great, with the numbers printed on them. Or you could just use a simple printed card with a card holder. It doesn''t need to be big, something simple will suffice.

mine are pretty cheesy, they are pretty much just table number tents and they sit on the table, i wanted to keep everything low profile so the centerpieces have more of a presence

fickelfaye, that sounds like a great idea and not cheesy at all. You just need them to be functional, they don''t have to make a statement in themselves.

cindy, we are also naming our tables after breweries we have been to together (beer is a going to have a major presence at our reception

). I attached the best pic I have of our centerpieces--it''s a cell phone one on a coffee table so there aren''t any linens or anything, but it might give you an idea.

A themed holder would be great, ilovesparkles! I didn''t even know they existed. Hopefully they make beer cap or bottle ones.

I totally LOVE

the DIY lanters, honey228! They are absolutely amazing and would work with our theme great! I am not sure I can get FI to commit to another DIY project right now, but they would be perfect! We are doing a buffet, but the menu idea is great, too! I love how it is subtle, but you couldn''t miss it, like it is hiding in plain sight. That is totally what I want.

honey22 and ficklefaye, I am glad to think you think the simple cards/tents aren''t too standout-ish. That is what I was worried about. Like, everything else on the table is cohesive, so I was worried something else wouldn''t, but that is a good point that simple will blend--in fact, it''s just what I needed to hear.

Well, the pic didn''t attach. Take 2. . .

I am looking, but so far I have found wine corks, wine goblets, and champagne ice bucket holders. Nothing related to beer. But I am looking, looking, this is fun!

ETA: I just had two ideas. First idea, with the cranes you are placing on the table, glue one onto a small square of cardstock to make it more stable, then glue the table number or name in between the crane's wings. Voila, completely incorporated. Or two, you say you have a beer theme, I forget, are you doing custom labels or something? Take an empty beer bottle, put a wine cork in the top, after making a slit in the top of the cork. Put the table name card in the slit of the wine cork. You could also do this with wine bottles.

What if you use one of your cranes as a holder for a simple square card with a table number on it? Maybe find a way to rest a card on the crane''s back with the tail holding it up. Or maybe cut s slit somewhere that will hold a card up.

We had branch and crane centerpieces too and we just propped up a square table number against anything that would hold it. It was on matching stationary so I think it blended well. I didn''t pay too much attention to it so I''m sure that whatever you choose to do will be fine.

One more thought after re-reading your last post, take a bottle of beer from each brewery you are naming tables for. (I was thinking the wine cork would look funny in a beer bottle.) Take your piece of card stock that you can fold in half and glue at the open end. This makes a little "jacket" or "necklace" of sorts you can slip over the neck of the beer bottle. Does this make sense? I see it clearly in my head, lol.

hi katamari, were you able to figure out your table number dilemma? i''m changing my mind a bit about my lone table numbers because they just seem too functional to me, i want people to see the table number but i''m trying to figure out how to make them blend it better

Ah, I do think I can see what you are seeing here. I could also make a band of sorts to slip over the centerpiece like a beer label. The DIY wheels are turning. . . Thanks, sparkles!

I am actually going to try a couple of the ideas here this weekend in my final DIY push and see if any are easy and work with what I want--specifically the lantern tent honey228 posted, the beer ring idea ilovesparkles posted, and some of the more simple incorporate-it-into paper on the tables ideas. FI just wants to put a beer or two from the brewery the tables are named after on the table, but I don''t like this because I don''t think our guests will be as able to identify beers by brewery as quickly as he would (and, therefore thinks they will be able to). I will report back with what works best! (and you do the same

Glad some of my ideas were helpful! I can''t wait to here and see what you come up with! I hope something works well and isn''t too tricky to make!
