I feel so clueless when it comes to wedding planning!

Hopefully this question isn''t too stupid, but I was wondering if y''all can help me out...

Three of my FI''s groomsmen live in Hong Kong. While they can come a few days before the wedding, they can''t come a full two weeks before, which is what Men''s Wearhouse told us is the last day to get a tux fitted.

So my questions are:

1. Since they all already own tuxes, can they wear their own? Will it look weird that they don''t match? How can I make them look more uniform if they don''t match?
2. Are there any international tux chains where they can get fitted for rental tuxes?

As always, thanks for reading!

i think measurements are measurements. so, if they go somewhere and get fitted, those measurements can be told to MW for them to get a tux.
that''s what our groomsmen did. they got fitted and emailed us their stats. then we ordered the tuxes locally. no problems. i know that doesn''t answer your questions, but i wanted to through that out there.

if you want them to wear their own tuxes or suits, then consider purchasing them matching or coordinating ties,

however there should be no problem with them getting measurements at a tailor or tux shop in their area and sending that to you to pass on to the tux shop you want to use.

we are getting tuxes thru Mens Wearhouse and FI''s dad doesn''t live near one. The MW guy said it''s a common courtesy for other shops or tailors to measure (i.e. anyplace can do it)

gotta love it- men can send in measurements and pick up the tux the day before versus what we go thru getting fitted for a dress!!!

1) If they all have their own tuxes, then they can wear their own, this is how it was at our wedding, we gave all of the groomsmen the same tie to wear and it looked fine.
One guy had a double-breasted tux, but as long as his jacket was buttoned you couldn''t even tell.

This is what we''re doing as well because our tux shop is a regional chain, not a national one, and the ONLY member of the party near one is our RING BEARER!!! Crazy, eh? So all our guys have to send in measurements. It should be free, but if it''s not, tell them it''s probably cheaper than a plane ticket!

If you want them to wear their own, that''s fine too... matching ties and vests can be bought or rented. Our dads are both wearing their own but we picked out ties and vests for them to rent to coordinate. That made them happy because they wouldn''t need to own these pieces, but wanted to look coordinated.

By tux do you mean black Dinner Jacket and a bow tie or a tailcoat, striped trousers and waistcoat (what we call Morning Dress)?

If it''s the later I would check that they all have the same colour tailcoat (black, charcoal or dove grey or whatever) - there''s not a lot of difference unless you have an odd colour.

Personally I prefer not too matchy matchy so I''m just asking for black tail coat, grey waistcoat and a tie of a suitable design & shade (and no cartoon characters - or else!)

a tuxedo is a dinner jacket. a morning dress is still morning dress here.

Ah ha - thanks for explaining I wasn''t too sure.
