Hi all, I have minimal expertise when it comes to colored stones. Hue, saturation, window,... are still a work in progress for me. I see that many on this board have stones and pieces designed/fabricated by CVB (I do also but with diamonds). Can the experts here give me an opinion about what makes the stone in this listing worth the auction price? https://loupetroop.com/listings/loo...6ct-8-dot-6x7-dot-28mm-unheated-blue-sapphire To my very uneducated eye I think I see a large window. How does that effect the price? She mentions "top notch faceting", is that the area around the center? Is the shape really unique? Is the color special? Does the nonheat treatment make it that much more valuable? TIA

Top Notch faceting is a gemstone cutter named Jean-Noel Soni
https://topnotchfaceting.com/home.html

He's extremely well known and highly skilled--more of his work can be seen here: https://www.instagram.com/topnotchfaceting/

His pieces are in high demand due to how precise his cuts are, so it's a bit like owning a "designer" gemstone. That cut isn't my personal style, but that's the reason for the auction and price.

I am surprised how popular his pieces are, as a number of them feature windows. Not for me either, but from the look of it this is no native cut and the window must be intentional.

Thanks for the reply, very helpful! The stones on that link are beautiful.

Thanks Voce. Is the window there as a style component or to save wt? I do see that he has others that have obvious windows.

@lilysweet, I am glad that you asked that question because I had just seen the same stone listed and wondered the same thing!

I follow his Instagram & have wondered the same. Although his windows seem intentional I don’t understand that stylistic approach & not sure how his gems appear in real life once set.

I dont know, there are many different more imaginative cutting styles. Such as orsis gems and john dyer gems. Leaving a big window in the centre will simply detract from the brilliance and sparkle so I can not see the appeal of this stone. I dont consider this a perk.

I want to propose to my girlfriend and I really do not know anything about the rings and the stone that should be there. I saved up some money and it is all thanks to my online job that I was able to do even during the pandemic. I got it only because I was able to pass my final exam with the help of SPOTO ccnp dumps. Anyway, what is the perfect ring that I can get for her? I was thinking about white gold because it just looks much nicer, but that is as far as I got.

Just my opinion but I was so glad my husband proposed without a ring and let me help pick it out.

While the thought counts either way of course, with such an expensive and hopefully long-lasting purchase, I really appreciated getting to wear something that I actually like on my hand.

Also, you might want to start a new thread under the appropriate section for this question.

It seems Loupetroop's site is down right now. The message I get says they are deploying a new version of Loupetroop.
