I''m still a little new here, but learning a lot reading through PS. Before I get this diamond, I would like to see what you all think of it, for there might be something that I might missed. This is an GIA diamond, dated 2006 with laser inscription registry. I''ve put the number on the HCA and it return a value of 1.2 With all the number and specification below, is it a good buy for $16k? And also, what does the comment below really mean? There''s nothing shown on the certificate as inclusion beside that comment. Thank you for all you replies, this site really rock :)

Another question, the dealer told me 1.38 carat is hard to find, is that true? Thanks again.

Looks great.

E and VVS are not exactly bang for the buck choices. Don't know, is she hoping for 1.5+?

Comment means it's very clean

Yes, 1.38 is a bit of a rare size. Not necessarily a plus or a minus... On one hand, you get the look of a 1.5 without paying 1.5, but low supply may mean you pay a premium for a rare size.

Thanks for your respond. We were looking at 1.31 size and notice this 1.38 that seem much better in spec and look much more beautiful and bigger. She wasn''t hoping for a 1.5+, we were looking in the range of 1.2-1.3 at the beginning. Thinking about getting it within this week.

I did a search on here and saw that 1.38 is much less in quantity than the other sizes.

It looks fine, I was going to suggest a F VVS2 that I found on Pricescope which was in your budget but it has an old certificate and all the other F VVS2''s were around $19,000 with new certs.

Would you consider dropping the clarity some, VVS1 is a bit overkill. You wouldn''t even notice the difference in color from E to F. How about an F VS1? You could probably save $4,000 or $5,000!

Yes, I know that I can save $$$ by going down on the clarity. But from the beginning in looking and learning about diamond, we were looking at VVS2 or above. I just wanted to know if the quality of this diamond goes with the price or am I paying too much for what this diamond quality. Thanks you.

First, I agree with the other posters. I would recommend reducing color and clarity to F and VS1, the difference being imperceptible to the human eye.

However, you are still intent on the E VVS1 (and that''s ok!) in which case I will tell you that currently most dealers are paying around $11,286 per carat for a stone like that, meaning a dealer would pay around $15,575 for your stone. That means that a price of $16,000 is pretty fantastic, meaning the dealer is only workring on a 3% margin. If you''re sure that''s the stone you want, than $16K is a good price.
