Hi everyone,
I want to propose to my now gf in a few months.
I am getting a lot better at knowing her style, since I have gotten her two right hand rings in the time we have been together.
I am new to diamond purchasing so I will need some guidance to get a ring that will pop how I want it to. Is that something a jeweler/sales person would be able to help me with when the time comes? Thanks

Phil

If you post what your budget it (if you’re comfortable with that), give some idea what you’re looking for, size, shape, setting, gold/platinum, the lovely folks here will be more than happy to help you.

Yes, most will be able to help you. You need to be educated before you go to buy though because some jewelers will push stones
they have in stock even though they're not the greatest of cuts. There is lots of education on our forum and we are always happy
to give advice or opinions...or, help you pick out a stone on-line. Most of us do buy on-line because the selection is much larger
than what you will usually be offered at a brick and mortar store. If you tell us what you are looking for (specs and budget) we
can point out a few well-cut stones so you know what to look for and about how much it may cost.

Edit...do you already own a stone and just need the setting?

This is the ring I got her that she loves,
The budget is going to be about 10 thousand. She likes a stone to look big so I am thinking a halo will work best.
I know with that particular ring it pops because of the color contrast but I am hoping to find something that can give you the wow when you look at it like that does.
Thanks everyone

Are you looking for a round diamond or a fancy-cut shape? What size finger does she have?

Pretty ring!

She really likes cushion cut.
I’m not sure her size. She took an 8 on her right hand (she’s right handed) so I’ve read normally it’s a 1/4 size smaller but I’m not sure 100 percent

I forgot to add, she wants yellow gold too

Did you check the halo settings at James Allen

This is pretty...might look too much like the ring she already has.

That setting is gorgeous

Assuming she will wear a wedding band, will she want it to sit flush with the ER or is a gap okay? That will impact what kind of setting you can choose.

A gap would be ok

You would need to give color requirements/wants if you would like stone recommendations. If you talk $2300 for the setting that
leaves about $7700 for the stone. Since you are going yellow gold you might be able to go lower in color (I-ish) to get a larger
stone but that's your call.

Cushion cuts come in different varieties (faceting patterns). I'm not good at picking out crushed ice.

See this thread (1st post) for the different cushion types...some of them are very difficult to find. The branded ones will be more
expensive.

That's a gorgeous ring! Wow.
