We have our menu tasting tomorrow, which also happens to be exactly 6 months until our wedding. We''re excited about the tasting -- the venue/restaurant has great food, and I''m looking forward to trying some of their dishes. My parents will be there with us -- at first I thought there would too many of us at the tasting but I''m not worried about it. It only makes sense in my mind that if my parents are paying, they SHOULD both be able to taste what they''re going to be paying for. I''m not sure what types of questions we should ask, or even if there ARE specific questions we should bring up. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The only questions we had came up during the tasting...like they offered a ranch and a raspberry vinagrette dressing for the salads, but the raspberry was WAY too sweet and not good at all, so we asked if we could have a different option. Then, when we were picking our side dishes, FI and I wanted different entres but the same side, but wanted to offer a variety of sides, so we asked if one of us could have a "special side" and their response was great...as bride and groom, we can have whatever we want, we are not limited to our guests' options.

I can't think of any general questions that I would have thought of beforehand though...but enjoy the food!

ETA: LOVE your new avatar, Zoe!

I don''t know about you, but I have a lot of people coming with dietary restrictions. I need to make sure there is something for celiacs (sp), vegans, ex alcoholics (no wine sauce, they are very strict) and Kosher Jews so I have to ask about all of that. Just consider any allergies, etc.

You may want to consider serving options. How is the serving going to go? What happens to the leftover food?
Are they doing your alcohol? If so, make sure they have a liquor license. You would be amazed how many don''t and it can cause big problems down the line.

If you have already picked them and they own the venue then a lot of your problems are taken care of.

Thanks ladies!

The restaurant does have a liquor license, and we''ll probably discuss the open bar we''ll be providing. I do have a few friends with allergies, so I''ll be sure to mention that as well.

Re: my new avatar, thanks Sabine! It''s a picture that Alj took at the get together we had last month.
