Radiant diamond and french cut sides?

Would french-cut traps look good with this pinkish brown radiant stone?

  • Yes - they would look great together.

  • No - they would clash aesthetically.

French cut sides are typically paired with antique or step cut stones. I love how they look, but I have a pinkish brown radiant center that looks like this. It isn't a crushed ice look, but I still can't decide if it would clash too much with the aesthetic of french-cut trap sides... thoughts?

French cuts are quite and a bit like rose cuts with flashes. I would not put them with a radiant, but that's me.

I was afraid of that and appreciate the honest opinion...

I think it’s case by case of the individual stones (size and actual faceting pattern ‘look’, and the setting aesthetic itself.
especially since it’s not a ’crushed ice radiant’.

even the radiant were a bit splintery - I’m not quite sure I would absolutely dislike this look.

three stone image is pulled from 1st dibs, plus the center stone you linked. The French cut trapezoids look modern. Maybe that’s why I don’t think it looks so out of place.
maybe it translates totally different in real life?

This is a very rough (and bad copy/paste) idea of what I am envisioning - two tone setting w/ french traps by CvB.CvB_french.png

Ohhh these pics are super helpful! I have no idea how you did that, but I appreciate you pulling this and photoshopping for inspiration!!

my opinion only
this is where the antique vibe of the setting you pictured would make it a no go for me.
a much plainer, bit more modern like her Heather or Harper setting - would flow
imo of course.
we all differ

Completely agree - sorry I should have mentioned that I want a plain band... it was just the easiest pic I could find w/ french side traps used in her settings. I don't want any engraving. Do you think those style french traps are modern enough though?

It REALLY depends on the exact stones. I've been lucky enough to have on hand some really amazing rings with colored diamonds at the center. I think you have a lot more leeway with a colored center since the color is often more the focus than the faceting. I personally enjoy my mixing cuts and all of my own jewelry does just this. It's more visually interesting for me.

I think I like it! I would definitely pull some sides to see them with your exact stone. It couldn’t hurt to see it all set out together.
I love the color of that diamond btw. That blushing brown is gorgeous!

I think it would be really pretty together to do that combo! Beautiful diamond, btw!
