I have always liked the rainbow as I love primary and secondary colours, and its symbolism (sun after rain etc.).

When I was getting a windsock for camping use, I chose a rainbow one.

I also love rainbow jewellery, and considered to get either a ring or a bracelet at one stage.

However, rainbow jewellery appears to have fell out of favour in recent years, possibly due to the rainbow being associated with the LGBT community.

In light of current situation, I thought about getting a piece of jewellery in rainbow colours, most likely to be either a ring or bracelet, with randomly set small CSs that I have already collected.

How about anyone else? Would you consider getting a piece of rainbow jewellery?

DK :))

I’d get one. My mom has one that was my gramdma’s and I really like it. It doesn’t matter if no one thinks they are stylin’—they are neat and if you like one, go for it!

Yes! Of you love rainbow jewelry, go for it. The full spectrum is a beautiful thing, especially in the brilliance of colored gems.

Editing to add: one of my tattoos is in roygbiv, and I don't care what anyone else's impression of it is cause it's for me, not them. I love it so much and seeing the colors of the rainbow snaps my brain out of a bad loop in a way other things can't.

i still see plenty of rainbow sapphire jewelry and wouldn't hesitate to wear a piece

@Niffler75 I didn't know they made it with cs, it's a totally different feel from the diamond version. Love it!

I am in need of a new multicolored ring.

I had a pink, blue, and yellow sapphire haloed ring that my friend had been coveting for over 10 years. She came to visit in March right before lockdown and I gave it to her. I gifter her a London blue topaz ring 3 years ago when she moved away and she has not take it off since. It's stuck on her finger and looks so dull and gunky, with missing diamonds... I expect the rainbow ring will meet a similar fate. But, she likes them and appreciates them, and that's what counts, right? 20200420_154151.jpgthis is the only photo I can find.

I love rainbow for bracelets and BTY necklace.

Same - I see a few rainbow sapphire and other types of gemstone bracelets that are very pretty for sale on places like Ebay and Etsy!!!

I’ve been cyber following these two in IG and I love their rainbow jewelry!

Their rainbow jewelry are meant to be fun additions to one’s collection and daily wear.

I love rainbow sapphire jewelry too. I have one pendant. It sits in my box though because I put it in the ultrasonic and a stone came out. I need to send it to DK and see if he can fix it. Costco has a rainbow sapphire bracelet online now. It seems to be on the smaller side and delicate but I don't really see that as a problem. I think it's a pretty good price.

How exciting! I've been looking for a rainbow sapphire ring or necklace for a few months now. It's such a happy symbol and with me being a "color nut", backed by what it means during this crazy time we live in, a piece of rainbow jewelry will remain on my wishlist :cool2:

Here are some of my inspirations:

I love seeing rainbow colors, and I don't worry about the rainbow being associated with LGBTQ.

However, I personally wouldn't wear it because I notice that what jewelry I wear, I usually wear as a tone-on-tone of the color of clothing I'm wearing, or as a contrasting color to my clothing.

If I were wearing lots of colorful floral or tropical prints, I can see myself wearing rainbow jewelry. But since I wear a lot of solid colors with neutrals, I just think a rainbow piece of jewelry would look out of place with what I'm wearing, and I wouldn't reach for it.

Note: I do like rings with multiple CS, but they're all different concepts from a rainbow. I think a rainbow is ALL the colors and would be too many colors at once for me to pull off.

I just found sets of rainbow sapphires in matched sizes on Multicolour:

This is way more than I need, but someone else might be interested :)

Woah!

Those are awesome and would make for a great necklace or bracelet. I'm on a bling ban or I'd be tempted.

These are my existing stones for a Bombé/Gypsy set ring that I have in mind.

The Fire Opal may be a tad too big and the colour too neon; and the blue Sapphire may be a tad too small.

However I have not planned to get anymore small CSs, so these will have to do.

This is the type of ring setting I have in mind, in White Gold:

@dk168 Gorgeous substantial ring! The fire opal will need a protective setting! Some more inspiration pics!

That large ring with the stones (first inspo pic) is great, I love that.

Another ring design similar to the one I have posted, more rounded which is what I prefer (I can't edit and add to my last post):

@Niffler75 all the stones will be bezel set.

DK :))

Here is my recently made DK bracelet, when my husband and I add another child to our family I will add a blue stone to it. I plan on making 2 more segments and they will be colored stones, too.

My son was needing attention with his math so I forgot to say that rainbows wonderful and that is probably why the LBTQ..chose it. I really couldn’t care less is someone thought I was LGBTQ, especially for wearing a rainbow.

Love the bezel/gypsy setting ideas! Echoing @Niffler75, I think a domed ring would look really substantial and beautiful.

I have this ring saved in my Etsy favourites list. I think it's subtle and elegant and won't snag on anything. I imagine a full eternity ring with larger stones would feel uncomfortable for me.il_794xN.2231111437_fy6e.jpg

This seller has some other rainbow eternity ring styles too.

I like this post and @voce has great taste. The rainbow idea is great in concept but the execution is usually so-so and even cheesy-looking. (Look for a Rolex with aftermarket "rainbow" sapphires around the bezel.) I would use a sector of the color wheel like pale mint green, blue, and violet, for example. Or of course the usual color-wheel opposites or even three that are 120 degrees apart, etc.

Man, I really want a rainbow DBTY necklace!

I love your inspiration pic. With the different coloured and shaped stones you have this is going to be one of those jewellery pieces you can sit and look at for ages - my favourite kind!

As a random aside, is the bench you use in the UK? I have no plans for anything but domestic options are few and far between.

I’m with you @sydneyatl -this thread has planted the seed of a rainbow BTY necklace, darn it! I have a cheap and cheerful multicoloured glass bead necklace that I love in summer with block coloured t-shirts, but a sprinkle ‘proper’ version would be amazing!

@lissyflo and @dk168 Yes I would be interested too about how you co-ordinate these projects in the UK! Seems that we do have fewer options available.

I have a project planned and have found a company that can CAD design and cast for me (jewelcast) but then for bench work?

I have a whole suite of rainbow sapphire jewellery that I wear. The only thing I can’t wear is the double row full eternity which is too tight :(

Oh, wow! Sunshine, happiness and fun made solid. They’re beautiful. And the logical side of me would be completely happy with the cost per wear given that colour coordination with a range of outfits is built in!

Love the second Bombe inspiration you posted!
Stunning stones dk!!

Are you using your own stones?

If yes, try Simon Wright as recommended by @TravelKat - he is making a bangle setting for my mum's MRB.

I would probably send the stones to the bench I use in China for setting, as the stones are not valuable.
