Rainbow pastels - who says Princesses are not not great performers?

I know that princess cuts are not very popular on PS but I wanted to post these pics of my 2.1ct F SI2 princess diamond on a bright sunny day. Its not new, but I did get the setting adjusted after advice I had here on a previous post. My setting now lets lots more light in but more importantly, now allows for proper cleaning, and it's made a huge difference to the light show that my stone now gives .

Wow! Just gorgeous!!

Lovely! :)

Wow, that's mesmerising! I've never seen those kind of colours on a princess before!

Your ring is definitely fit for royalty! Princess cuts make me so nostalgic! There was a period when several of my friends getting engaged during/shortly after uni were all getting princess cuts and it takes me back to sharing in their excitement... and admittedly some jealousy!

Princess cuts will always be my favourite...beautiful.

Beautiful! I actually love princess cuts!!

Prettiest Princess I have seen.

I feel bad we dont give princess cuts a little more love around here...yours is a pretty one! Quite blinding!

Those pastels!! :kiss2: That princess looks like it’s a big one. :) One of my very best college friends got a princess cut when she got engaged. I made her let me try it on whenever we were together!

PS also helped me to modify some special jewelry I had (this was years ago!). Lots of great advice here! It helped me to love my pieces even more. Your ring is gorgeous!

I have a princess cut too! This is a beautiful stone and I love the prongs on your setting.

Thanks everyone, for your kind remarks. Its great to see that there still some princess cut lovers out there! :wavey: I bought mine around 15 years ago, taking into account the PS recommended cut parameters but it's not a super-ideal princess.

Having read so many PS posts which were down on princess cuts, I had started to doubt my stone and wondered if it was a "poor performer" by PS exacting standards. I even considered selling it at a loss or having it re-cut. It was only after helpful input from Brian at Whiteflash and David from DBL that I decided to see if my setting could be modified to show off the diamond better.

When my jeweller unset the diamond he found that the inside of the platinum mount under the diamond was rough and dark where it had not been finished properly, and that there was a cup under the diamond which was touching the girdle in several places and making it impossible to clean properly, even with professional equipment. This was seriously impacting the diamond's performance. After these issues were rectified it was honestly like having a completely new diamond! I can't believe how much brilliance it has now, and the colored light reflections which I had given up ever hoping see are there in bucketloads. And its now really easy to keep it clean at home with jewellery cleaning solution and the occasional steam. I can't believe I almost gave up on this diamond!!!

Here are a couple more pics taken outdoors in the snow - less sunny today but plenty of white light:
