Hey Pricescoper's

I hope im posting in the right place. I have been trying to match an emerald cut diamond to two other emerald cut diamond that my grandmother had in her engagement ring. The two stones from my grandmother aren't great matches but they actually face up quite nicely. As you all kindly recommended I had the stones certified. The measurements are as follows.
Center stone:
6.63*5.34**3.28
depth is 61.4% and the table is 69%

side stone:
6.52*5.16*3.18
depth is 61.5% and the table is 73%

I am trying to match the third diamond that should go into my grandmothers engagement ring but these measurements are proving to be tricky. Im trying to use a jeweler that I have a significant credit with and they brought in the following diamond as an option.
Diamond my jeweler sourced:
5.54*5.16*3.34
depth is 64.7% and the table is 71%

When I arrived at the jewelry store to examine the stones I felt like the stone that the brought in Is a little too deep. The jeweler stated that they could have the pavilion re-cut to match my grandmothers sidetone. I would love to hear from some of you about how you would feel about having a stone re-cut. I would also like to know if any of you feel that the diamond my jeweler has sourced is already a good match or if you feel that the depth of the stone is problematic.

Hi - slightly hard to tell without seeing photos of the three diamonds next to each other. But for me, the almost 1mm difference in length of the stone (per measurements given 0.98mm) would I think be visible. Personally - and there are far more experienced people than me on this forum who am I am sure will chime in with advice - recutting and re-certifying a stone which is already not an ideal match doesn't feel like the right move. I would ask them to keep looking if I were you.

I should clarify that I am most concerned with matching the other side stone, not the center diamond.

And Im also posting while tired, that measurement is 6.54 on the diamond the jeweler sourced, not 5.54

sorry that measurement was meant to be 6.54 not 5.54

The depth is just a number. Dont let the number bother you. What you need to be concerned with is how it performs and
how it compares with the other stone you are matching.

I never buy fancy-cut (emeralds) stones by the numbers. They fall further down on the list of things to be concerned about.
If the stone is deep but it doesn't affect its performance then its not an issue.

No problem. Did it visually look like a good match in terms of light play etc? As @tyty333 it's more about performance. IMO a setting can also hide a lot of small depth measurements =)2

Thank you all for the advice. I decided to go with this stone as all of the measurements are very close and it really dose face up nicely with the other stones. Ill post pictures Saturday and you can all give me your two cents on the depth :)
