Hello All,

I am just really disappointed and wanted to get this out in the open!
I have been checking out some stones for a while, and had spotted a setting and stone on-line that I thought were fantastic. Because BF and I are in the UK I had made some calls etc to find out about the whole process of buying from the USA and getting it to the UK.

It all got very exciting this afternoon when BF said that I should just go ahead and get the bank wire done on Monday and get the ring made. I was just so pleased - esp since we are coming to NYC in a week and so hoped to pick up said ring then.

So, then I had a bit of a panic, what with doing all this on-line and posted a query in rockytalk.... I got some really positive and friendly responses and that was great and then, next time I clicked on the stone online it said it was SOLD

I am so naive, I shouldn''t have posted my query at all, but I am just so gutted. I feel as though I have been doing all this research, BF and I looking together, pestering the vendors with questions and then someone else buys it!

It may just have been coincidence...?

Either way, this is a bit *&*& and I have had a look through the diamond search and don''t see anything that I was in love with to the same extent, although that''s maybe just because I am a bit fragile over this one. Trying to get it all sorted out in time to pick up a different ring in New York is going to be difficult / impossible.

My lovely BF is being really sympathetic about it though. Someone else may have swiped the good ring from under my nose, but at the end of the day I have the mostly lovely man out there.

So sorry! Maybe something better will come along? I feel for you!

No chance he bought it? But then again, why would he tell you to buy it and then go and buy it himself?!

Hmm... I''m sorry! Maybe there is some better out there just waiting for you! Who knows! I''m sure you''ll find something though, that maybe you''ll love even more!

no sadly he didn''t buy it!
I hope there is something else out there for me

Oh, no, I''m sorry! I''m sure you just figured it out the hard way, but you have to make sure to first have the vendor hold any diamond you post about here or lurkers will snag them! So crappy!

What are you looking for? I''m sure you can find something else! If you post the stats you''re looking for in Rocky Talky and ask for people to recommend diamonds to you I bet you can find something just as good!

That is so frustrating - sorry you lost your stone, but I am sure we can help you come up with something else? PS vendors have lots of customers, many not from around here, so you may just have been unlucky, especially if you are looking at a popular colour/clarity size combo.

You can always post again in Rocky talky for suggestions, and if you do get some, reserve one or two immediately and then ponder over them, just in case others (PSers or not) are looking at the same stones.

Good luck!

oh, no! i''m so sorry to hear that! hopefully you''ll find something else you love soon! good luck!

It just wasn''t meant to be...

But, that just means there is something even more beautiful out there waiting for you to find it...lucky girl, you.

And yes, as Thing pointed out...be sure to hold any diamond you are considering from this point forward.

I know you''re disappointed but maybe there is someting better out there for you? Be stealth about how you go about inquiring on the next one you have your eyes on, and I really do hope you find something in time for New York :)

That is a frustrating situation to be in. There are many, many lurkers on this site, and yes, it is possible someone saw your stone and snatched it up. I think people usually advise buyers to put stones on reserve if they''ve been whittled down to the last couple options, to save this sort of thing from happening. It also could''ve just been bad timing, and someone else just grabbed it up because it was a good stone.

Would you be able to contact the vendor and say you had wanted that stone, and to let you know when another one pops up again? Worth a try, maybe?

Best wishes finding an even better stone, m''dear! What an exciting time for you and your future hubby!

hun - there are BILLIONS of gorgeous rings and diamonds out there - you will find the perfect one for you - just be patient. I always tell myself in this situations that it just wasn''t meant to be... who knows - maybe you would have bought that ring and regreted it - maybe the stone was flawed... just don''t sweat it and keep looking! It''s such an exciting time for you both!!!

The same exact thing happened to us. I fell in love with a stone from James Allen. It was just sitting there for about a month. My FI (then bf) told me to pick it up and I decided to post the info on rocky talk just to make sure it was good. 1 hour later it was sold. I was so disappointed but I learned from then that if I find something great, you can post the info to get comments but not where its from.

You''ll find something again hun!

Thank you - I was feeling very stupid for having put in the link to the stone. I am sorry to hear the same thing happened to you, but relieved to know I''m not the only one.

Just so you''ll know, the stats alone would tell 90% of us where that diamond was located.

Reserve first, then post.

Ok, I don''t mean to rain on your parade or anything, but diamonds are EASY to find. Seriously seriously E.A.S.Y. They are everywhere. I started looking--really looking to buy my ering stone over two months ago. I have a 19 page thread about it in Colored Stones. I''ve had custom cutters seeking out stones for me, and out of the 9 or so I''ve been in contact with, there have been about 7 stones that have been cut specially for me. I''ve had dozens of links, pictures, sites, and email addresses posted there, and you know how many stones came up that were possibilities?

TWO.

That''s it. And I''m not even 100% sure that the one I chose is IT. I''ve decided that if it''s not, I''m going to get an eternity band and call it quits, because I''m sick and tired of looking and getting stressed out about it.

So count your lucky stars that you want a diamond. If that were the case for me, I would have been done 2 months ago. There is a better stone out there that is just waiting for you to find it. That one just wasn''t meant to be-that''s all.

So sorry to hear that. Bummer.
But like others have said, maybe YOUR stone is out there somewhere... ;) sometimes it''s better to let go of resistance becasue things happen for a reason.
Hope it works out for you!

i am so sorry. i dont think that anyone from rocky bought it out from under you. we arent that kind of bunch, at least i like to think not. good luck finding another one.
