Hi everyone,

New to the form and have been trying to absorb as much info as fast as possible. I bought an emerald cut diamond for an engagement ring from Whiteflash that I unfortunately had to send back due to bad windowing. I've now got to select a replacement stone and I'm now caught in analysis paralysis.

I'm shooting for similar stats to the stone I returned which was 3.11 Ct VVS2, D 1.46:1. I spent around 1600 on that stone but I'm a little flexible on budget. I know my partner loves the hall of mirrors effect more than anything but I'm not great at analyzing the rotating videos.

Hi! After you able to post three video of the stones you returned? Did WF recommend that stone? ECs are tough to judge.

Have you already looked through Brian Gavin’s signature cut collection? Not sure what those prices are, but you’d have access to great videos and imaging.

My messages seem to be invisible to other members when they have links included ( maybe because I'm a new member?). if I post the GIA numbers could anyone give me their thoughts. These are all off whiteflash

Tried to post a link but the comment seems to be invisible. the stone's report was IGILG669447693. It had some bad windowing at the very center most cut on the right side. BG looks great but most of their signature cut seems a bit out of budget

This moves nicely, but…the center lacks contrast, so face-on, the center will either be all steps on or all steps off, depending on the lighting environment.
It does move, which makes it a lively stone.
Let’s evaluate the others….

#2 won’t load a link to whiteflash for some reason.
#3 does:
This stone dances more, and has more contrast across the stone, including the center, yet appears bright.
Let’s try the others….

Ok….
The last 3 don’t load links, either.
Of the videos I was able to actually load and watch, #3 is my favorite and worth further evaluation.

Sorry about that, If I were to run one more by you it would be LG678544655

Also I really really appreciate the help

I don’t see a video link.
If you can get a video of this one, I’d be happy to check it out for you.

does this work perchance? My messages with links seem to not work

I’ll check that out.
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you the the Ritani Diamond report shows a LG culet. Are you ok with this Diamond having a long culet? It will impact the performance of the stone, depending on the dimensions and angles of the rest of the Diamond…..

Interesting, Whiteflash lists no culet, is there a way to tell from the IGI report?

This diamond has contrast and moves well.
This is the face-on view of the stone.
Notice the dark steps in the center. You should have this stone evaluated by ASET image to make sure there is little to no light leakage, here.
Otherwise, you may find “windowing effect” here.

Thank you!

Yes.
It’s listed on the certification, if one exists.
Long culets are not *BAD*, but the other angles and dimensions of the diamond need to work well in order to avoid negative performance impact on the stone.

See why it’s so important to see these IRL?
:lol-2:

I think I'll reach out and move forward with one of the stones, I'll ask if they can get an ASET before mounting it. thank you again

That’s a good idea!
Please share any images you may need help with, and by all means….
Come back with the one you choose!
I can’t wait to see it! ♥️

center is dead not a good thing.

Here's the video, hopefully this works. The trip I was hoping to propose on is coming up so I'm a bit worried about having to do another return. After seeing the video would you guys say its still a no go?

Difficult to say without seeing it in different light environments.
It seems to move well in the video, but the ASET makes me pause.
