A wedding package comprising:

1. Complementary Chef''s Selection of Hot and Cold Canapes served during pre-dinner drinks
2. Sumptuous Buffet or 3 Course Meal
3. 6 hr beverage package: Bottled Red & White Wines, Australian Draught beers, Champagne, Soft Drinks
4. Long Low for Bridal Table
5. Centrepieces and Disposable Cameras for Guest tables
6. DJ entertainment for 6 hours
7. Venue Hire

For 130 $AUD (100 US$?) per person for 65 guests minimum.

Any opinions appreciated. TIA!

I don't know about what prices are like in Australia, so maybe this is not helpful, but this is very, very reasonable for where I am from.

Thanks mrowmrowsmom...

Btw, u have a very difficult avatar name to remember (and spell)! heh... maybe i''m just slow

It''s awful, isn''t it? I don''t know why I did that. I call my cat MrowMrow, and I''m her mom, so my name is mrowmrowsmom. I wonder if I can change it...

Oooh I get it now

Very reasonable. Considering that the centerpieces and DJ are included, you''re talk (with 65 guests) spending $6,500 USD on a wedding reception.

However, with that said, depending on your budget and if this would be something you''re interested in...make sure to find out if you can upgrade centerpieces or the bar. Lots of places will give you that option and it''s a nice extra touch if you can swing it and want to.

Does this mean I don''t get to choose the centrepieces, Italia?

Hmmm I don''t like that...

I''m concerned that the price is a little high actually. I''m trying to save as much money as I can.

DH and I paid $90AUD per head for 110 poeple, which included all of those things except the cameras, entertainment and upgraded centrepieces. A large, ornate, black candelabra draped with roses was the standard centrepiece per table, which I loved, so we didn''t bother paying to upgrade them, which I think was a few hundred dollars. Chair covers were extra, which we didn''t worry about either, because I loved the chairs alone! We organised our own band for entertainment, which was over $1000, and didn''t have disposable cameras. So all in all, your price is pretty good for everything included! Whereabouts in Aus are you?

I don''t know how things work where you live...but here is my experience...

My venue offered an "all inclusive wedding". However what was included fell short of my expectation. The flowers that were included were 3 roses in a fish bowl type container which wasn''t my vision. I had to upgrade those.

I would suggest asking to see a look book...this will give you a better idea of what your venue with look like as-is without upgrading.

Hi DandiAndi!

I am in perth =)

I actually already fell in love with my florist... oops i mean... her flower arrangements for my bridal table and centrepieces and bouquets... and now i feel like going a different direction, no matter how nice the centrepiece is, will always fall short of my expectations!!

I did ask them to make me a new package without the flowers and cameras. Hopefully that will bring the cost down a bit, and I can use my preferred florist

Another concern I have with the package is that I am set on using florist L for my bouquets, and most other flower related expense. To have another florist make the centrepieces is just... i dunno... uncohesive?

Thanks so much for the advice

I will call them up and ask what their standard room deco is.

I just have a feeling that it will be cheaper for me to organise my own flowers and buy the cameras myself and just pay them for food, drinks, entertainment, and room hire.

Have you done a tasting and saw mock-ups? If the food/decoration is not what you want and they are serving table wine, well, it might not be worth it. If it is what you want, it seems like a fantastic deal.

That sounds like a fantastic deal!

I would definately email them and ask if they can email you any photos they have of the room set up and what options there are, as in one colour of organza chair sashes or 10 to choose from.

Let us know how it goes

No i have not done a tasting yet, but I HAVE to get catered by them. As fas as the standard decoration goes... the pictures I have seen are ... well... standard. I want my wedding to be more special than that.

I emailed the venue saying that I want the centrepieces, long low, and camera taken out of the package and see what they say. All in all, they are very lovely, accomodating people.

Good question! I think the chair sash hire is included. And hopefully i get to pick the colour closer to the date

I''m so glad no one thinks I''m getting ripped off. The price seems steep at first, but now that I REALLY think about what I''m getting, it all seems pretty reasonable

Sounds average for Australia.

Ditto

Cindy what you listed to me doesn''t really give the whole scope of what is on offer, I mean depending on what the food is, what it tastes like, what the grog tastes like it what it is could be a bargin could be a rip off.

The venue looks lovely from the link you posted :)

I do think this sounds like a good deal. However, and I am an optimist by nature - I am instantly wary of the DJ and centerpieces that are included. Are the centerpieces little mirrors and tea light candles? If so - many venues offer that. Is the DJ a reputable guy? A bad DJ can ruin an otherwise great reception. So, my advice is to really do your research. Find out about the DJ before committing to anything and if you don''t like him, possibly you can ask to hire your own DJ and then negotiate the per head cost down appropriately.

I guess i need to trust my venue. I do.

They are a reputable place located at the heart of the city, and they''ve been there a while.

They operate a pub by day and act as a function venue every weeknights and weekends
2.gif

The DJ they use is the same one they work with for every function being held there.

Hey Cindy!

I think depending on what types of food they offer, dinner and 6 hours worth of drinks for $130 is pretty good for Perth,.. and if you can get them to take out parts of the packages that you are completely not sold on.. well then there''s more money to put towards the florist!!

i know!! i bought the wedding flowers magazine and they have some nice arrangements there!!!

Now i want my wedding to be like a flower explosion! Such a terrible thing I did, buying that magazine

It looks like a lovely site!
I''m unsure of what AU prices are like, but that sounds very reasonable to me. My venue here in the states was $69/pp (US, before tax and gratuity), including centerpieces.

i don''t know the prices there but it looks a reasonable enough price for me!

I think this is a very good price, at least where I''m from (NJ - Philly area). We are paying $160pp for just food and drink at the reception.

Holy moly!!!! If you don''t mind me asking, where''s the reception at? I''m from NJ, and am curious about the venue

No problem. The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees, South NJ. We added a few things, but their base package is $110pp. When we were touring places and walked into the mansion, we automatically went "we can't afford this" but we went thru the tour, and were hooked! Damn it! lol

http://www.mansiononmainstreet.com/

Where did you book? You got an awesome price!

RHB, the Mansion is absolutely divine! I went to a wedding there a few years ago, and it was breathtaking!!!! Your wedding is going to be out of this world!

We booked at Brigalia''s in Sicklerville. http://www.brigalis.com. She recently remodeled the place, and it is lovely. She doesn''t advertise in bridal mags or anything, so she''s all word of mouth.

UPDATE:

I got my vendor to drop the centrepieces, long low and disposable cameras from the package and it went down to AUD 114 pp. I am very VERY happy now!!!!!

I''m saving AUD1072.5l!!! (65 guests)

My centrepiece designs + bridal table flowers (quoted by a florist)+ disposable cameras only comes to less than AUD 500

So in the end, i am saving more than AUD 500 by choosing my own florist and buying my own cameras. The extra money could be put towards... hmm lets see... a make up artist for me, and a two/ three tier CAKE!!

This is the best thing that has happened all week! I LOVE bargains =)

Thinking about it... everything about this wedding is going to be DIY and very affordable

The Costs so Far:
Venue+Catering+DJ+Drinks(6 hrs)+pre-dinner= 114*65=AUD7410
All Flower related things=AUD1280
Cake=AUD500 (max budget)----> tasting this Sat
30.gif

Officiant=AUD200 (standard price)
Dress+Tiara=AUD730

I''m sure there are heaps of other expenses that I haven''t organised yet... hair and make up, car, car park hire. Hopefully it all comes down to less than AUD 1000 for these expenses

Phew! pretty good don''t you think?????? YAY!!!!
