Has anyone done this? I''ve only seen it done once and I personally liked it. It would sure save on musicians.

I''ve picked a song to walk down the aisle to. I never thought I would want the words playing, but it''s just so beautiful. It talks about paths and understanding. I would play this song through till about 1 minute 20 seconds.

Also, FI has always envisioned playing the solo part of Layla as we exit. Scroll to 3:10 to hear it.

Then the ever popular Cannon for when parents and FI walk down.

To add one more song in this thread!! We decided on God Blessed the Broken Road for our first dance. The lyrics suite us well.

the only time i saw this done it wasn't so great -- BUT that was b/c it was done with a sad little boom box affair and some airhead coatcheck person was in charge of turning it on and off. not such a great plan.

we are thinking of doing this but having the DJ be in charge, so it would be through a good sound system and someone with an understanding of how to cue music would be in charge. we have so many musical people in our families that we are wary of having live musicians -- they seem to be so hit or miss, and a lot of the people in the "audience" (myself included) will hear every wrong note like nails on a chalkboard. i'm starting to think a recording might be the safest thing, plus it cuts out an extra cost. we may still look for live musicians, but i would never trust them to learn something they don't already play on a regular basis. i've heard it go oh so wrong. at least with the CD player it wasn't like they paid a whole bunch of $ and then it went wrong.

after all that rambling -- i think it can work, but i would leave it to a pro to amplify, stop and start the music if you can!

That is an EXCELLENT idea! I will have the DJ take care of it.

those we have met with said it is easy to set up a remote sound system if we were to have part of the event in a space other than the reception area. i would look into this. they said it would not be an extra cost.

We haven''t done it yet but we will in July. I''ve always wanted to walk down the aisle to a Trio Rococo''s version of Blackbird, and our synagogue has a fabulous sound system so that''s what we''re using.

I think it will be lovely.

I love that song! It would be great! But yes, have the DJ do it.

I''m definitely going to be going for this option I guess, given that we''re getting married in Vanuatu I''m not sure what the odds of finding someone to sing Sting''s "Fields of Gold" well will be, and I''ve been wanting to walk down the aisle to that song since I was a teenager first dreaming of the white dress

I used recorded music for my wedding procession...in fact for the entire thing. I did it on the IPOD. I created playlists for the before the procession music, then a 2nd playlist for the processional music. We hooked it up to my husband''s 1970''s stereo system with mammoth speakers. We got married outside on a university quad so the sound really needed to be "big" or it would have gotten lost...a tiny boombox never would have worked. We had a trusted relative handle the IPOD. It worked great. I really like the original versions of the songs I like better than someone coming in and playing them on piano, organ, guitar or what not. We also had playlists for the reception and used the same speaker/IPOD combo for that...had relatives move them from the ceremony to the reception location...not that far.
