Hi everyone,

Posting this vintage shop find from months ago. The bracelet is very attractive but can't decide what it might be worth. There's a very slight mark on the metal but it's unreadable. Couldn't find any similar bracelets on Google and was wondering if it rings any bells with any of you, and what the stones could be?

Thank you!

What do the stones feel like? The print on them would indicate synthetic material. I wonder if it could be bakelite, made to resemble carnelian. I know bakelite jewelry is collectible in its own right.

Thanks! They feel a bit gritty and are not heavy . I have a bakelite tester somewhere (a tube of something or other I used years ago) so will try and find it!

By a weird coincidence, been browsing ebay all morning and found a listing (#174625598871) with similar 'stones'. Selling for £25 so not worth much!

Dyed wood? Some kind of resin? The back doesn't look like a traditional gemstone.

It looks like paint or enamel on the back -- like it was poured in and there is a meniscus.

Thanks all! It does look like resin - when I google red resin jewellery, I see similar 'flecks' in the resin. I just bought it on a whim and as it looks nice. was hoping it would be worth more!

Awww shucks
its pretty
Just wear it and enjoy it
its bright and cheery for a very unbright bright and uncheery time

Yes it's very cheerful! I don't usually wear costume-type pieces but it looks lovely.

OMG, @MjK1, that's what it is! Thank you so much. I had never heard of sponge coral before but have Googled it and found jewellery very similar to mine.

I'm just really happy that my instinct was good when I picked this up among lots of junk jewellery in a second hand store. I love jewellery but have decided not to collect costume as I prefer the idea and the look of gemstones that can be found in nature. Delighted that I was right to pick this and to have learned something new today.
