Hey,
I have found a very cool site for colored diamonds - it got a lot of colors for diamonds and stones..

Site looking good and seems like serious company, but I was kind of confused about the red diamonds.

I have saw here in pricescope and in other boards online - that red stones are the RAREST and might cost MILLIONS (supposing you found one)..

Then I am getting into this website and seeing those "Red Diamonds" for few thousands.. is it possible? there''s level for red diamonds? I am flustered

I am not a professional but some stones which are reddish brown are affordable to most. Yes red diamonds are very rare and cost millions of dollars.

You can get treated and irradiated diamonds in many colours - they''re not particularly valuable.

Is that so? So how can I know which Red color diamond is "REAL" valuable?

If it's selling for less than many hundred thousand dollars, it's not real.

A 2.26ct red sold in Nov 07 for $2.6 million.

you don't find overlooked bargain red diamonds.

The treated red diamonds should come with a report from GIA or AGS stating that it is a treated red, it should also have a laser inscription. They are produced by a company called Lucent Diamonds. They are worth between 1-5% of the price of a natural red, so they will still be pretty expensive.

If there is no report, presume that it is synthetic until proved otherwise.

Other colours of diamonds (green/blue etc) are made by irradiating poor quality brown diamonds.

There are some brown diamonds that may have a reddish or orangish tinge, but they won't look 'red'.

Having looked at the stones on that site, I'd want to check whether the colour is natural or enhanced. GIA reports will state the type of enhancement used, so it should be easy to find out.

The deep red one may also be a lot darker IRL. Interesting that the orange one is POA only, as that's the only one that is attractive IMHO.

Hadago,

All of the stones listed on that website are reddish brown or orange, not red. There is a big difference between something that flashes a little red in the face-up, and something that has a true red body color. The reddish diamonds are still rare. You will notice how the only stone that has a GIA cert with it is a reddish brown, and it is 25k+. If you see what we consider a "red" diamond, it will be either a fancy purplish red or a fancy red. GIA does not (or has not to date) give any "red" diamond a grade more than "fancy". Hope that helps.

Under tones are very important to the rarity of a colored diamond.Brown is generally a color that brings down value and desirability in a gem...white diamonds and rubies are examples. The true red diamonds that are millions of diamonds are a true red with no other obvious conflicting undertones. As was posted earlier...The diamonds have oranges and browns, but are still expensive. There is every color combination under the sun in diamonds.

Went to the site and the diamonds are termed orange and bown diamonds with reddish tones. They use the red diamond catagory as a sales technique to get people to think they have red diamonds on their web site. You are smart to question this heading...im sure many inexperianced people think they are getting a rare red diamond...their wording is mis-leading and in my opinion less then ethical.
