Hi PSers,

I am in the process of shopping for a dress and I believe I have found THE one and am super excited! However, I do have a question regarding trunk shows and how they differ from normal ordering.

I''ve been to trunk shows just to try on the dresses and so forth but I was just wondering if the process or timeline is any different when you order a dress through a trunk show? Do you receive the dress any earlier or is it the same? Do the discounts vary? I know that the boutique I am going through offers a 15% discount if the dress is purchased through a trunk show but is this pretty standard, higher or lower?

I know that during certain designer trunk shows there is more leeway in regards to changes in the design or pattern but I''m not sure if Reem Acra has any options like that. Please share if you do know.

I just had these few questions but please offer any other tips if you have any regarding Reem Acras or trunk shows in general.

Thanks, Diamondlove

i think the most beneifical thing about trunk shows is that you get all of the dresses in one spot to try on, whereas you would normally maybe get only a handful at each store.

yes, i do believe there is a discount if you order your dress at a trunk show. not sure how much though.

also, yes, reem acra does alter the designs. don''t think any more or any less at a trunk show. the benefit you have at a trunk show is having the rep there that probably will know more regarding the dress or what can be changed and what not. the regular store sales girl may not know and would probably have to call the designer and get back with you- or at least that was my experience.

also, at the reem trunk show is where i found out which gowns had specific veils to match. i hadn''t every known before.

Hi Jcrow,

I''m actually talking about the Louise Blum trunk show. I didn''t know there were coordinating veils made by Reem... is that what you''re talking about?
I did try on a veil I really like with the dress at Saks and it was a long cathedral with satin edged that cascades. i think they called it a butterfly style. It was over $400 at Saks though so I am hoping to find it for cheaper elsewhere or hopefully LB will throw it in but I''m not definite yet.

Thanks for the help, I''ve tried on quite a few Reems now but it will be nice getting to see an even wider selection before I make my final decision at the trunk show.

yes that''s what i mean. eek, the veil that matched prosperity by reem was $2000

LB may throw in a free veil, but it''d be made by their lady- not a brand name one.

Hi. I just ordered my Priscilla of Boston gown during a trunk show. I got 10% off. The timeline for delivery was the same as usual ordering. This is the only trunk show I''ve been to but I believe 10-15% discount is pretty average.
Good luck!

Thanks JCrow and tiffanytwisted!

Tiffanytwisted, congrats on getting your dress. Did you get a Melissa Sweet or one by PoB? I was there recently and was admiring a Melissa Sweet and one of the new Kenneth Pool dresses but my heart is stubbornly set on the Reem.

You''ll have to post photos once you begin your fittings.

My gown is PoB. I just ordered it this week and my wedding is May 12, 2007 but as soon as I have fitting pics I will post them. I was actually so excited at having ordered the gown that I forgot to take the camera with me!
Reem Acra makes gorgeous gowns. Which one have you decided on?
Good luck with the dress shopping!
