Hi All---A few months back I posted the process of me remaking my e-ring after many years. Well, I wasn't satisfied with the size of the diamonds (the quality was perfect but I just wanted larger diamonds), so I ended up remaking the entire ring all over again. I know this may sound absurd to some people but I really thought the ring would look better with larger side diamonds. And I'm glad to say that it does. I reached out to the person who crafted the first setting and asked them to make the same ring but this time in 18KWG. I gave them the dimensions of the new stones to work with. The ring really does look more substantial with the larger stones, and it definitely has more of a "presence" on the hand, if you will. In retrospect, I think that is what I was hoping for with the first ring I had made, but the "presence" that I was looking for just didn't manifest for me due to the smaller diamonds. It took me a minute to put my finger on the issue, but I had to think about my overall jewelry preferences and I know that I have a preference for substantial (but not gawdy) jewelry, thus the reason the prior version of the ring not feeling quite right to me. So the stone specs on the old ring vs the new ring are as follows: Old ring = Center: 3.35 ct yellow unheated sapphire; 2 side stones: .31 carats each E/IF; 6 melee: .10 carats each (E/F, IF/VVS). The old ring had a total diamond weight of 1.22 carats. New ring = Center-same as previous; 2 side stones: .60 carats each E/IF; 6 side stones: .32/.31 cts each (E/IF). The new ring has a total diamond weight of 3.10 carats. I purchased the 6 new diamonds individually from Blue Nile as the specs that I wanted became available. And all of the stones in the new ring are now GIA graded and have their own respective certificates. In keeping with my personal preferences, when selecting the diamonds I kept the crown angles for all stones at 34/34.5/35 and pavilion angles at 40.6/40.8. The tables on all new stones are either 56 or 57. I've included below pics of the old ring on my hand (I don't think I have any stand alone pics of the old ring) and also new pics below of the ring that I took of it set upon my iPhone. I can certainly see the clarity of the larger stones more and boy does it sparkle on the hand and have significant presence. On my hand and in person the size difference is very much noticeable.
