My engagement ring and wedding band are lovely-one problem; the bands are gold, while I''m more of a platinum gal. My question is this: is it a horrible thing to want to reset my diamonds (which are fabulous) into platinum bands? I love the rings and their meaning, but feel like I''d be happier with a more updated look. Your thoughts?

welcome to pricescope!

no, it's not bad at all. you could also opt for white gold which is less expensive. good luck! please post pictures, we love pictures here!

Welcome

Ditto Pink - it is also a lot cheaper than changing the diamonds! Resets are commonly done for many different reasons, why not have what will make you completely happy? If your Husband is willing then go for it.

Welcome. How long have you had your set. What does your husband think about it. Maybe you could keep the old setting and put differant stones like sapphire or something and make it a right hand ring.

Nope, I don''t see anything wrong with that. For many people, the sentimentality is associated with the stone(s), not the metal. Of course, it really depends on how you and your hubby feel about it. Is he against it? Does the overall ring hold certain sentimental value for you?

Of course, if you feel too guilty after having it reset, you can always put it back into your old setting, but that would be quite a bit of money to spend. But, overall, I don''t think there''s anything wrong with it, but that''s just my very humble opinion.

There''s nothing wrong with resetting your diamonds at all. I upgraded my wedding ring for the very same reason. My old ring was yellow gold and I was just tired of the yellow metal and I felt that the design had become outdated. White metals suit my complexion better. I am still just as married and my wedding ring is still a symbol of what my husband and I have shared through 29 years of marriage!

I was at first thinking of resetting my stones into platinum, but then we decided to leave the old rings as they are and just get new rings for our anniversary. We have two girls, so each will someday have one set.
