Resetting Diamond Earrings

I have two sets of round diamond earrings that I’ve owned since my early 20s (first pair is 1.5 ctw and second pair is 3 ctw).

I’ve been toying with repurposing the smaller set as I only wear one set of earrings at a time now (I used to wear both pairs at the same time).

I have certificates for the smaller stones, but not the larger ones. They were gifts, so I was not involved in the buying process, but I recall that they’re F or G with mediocre clarity and cut.

I’ve also debated repurposing both pairs and upgrading to ideal cut earrings.

Has anyone been in this position before? Any ideas on what to do with these stones?

I’d say I’m in a similar boat. I finally upgraded to ACAs and love them! I wish I would have done it sooner. I’m left with two spare pairs (much smaller than yours). I debated selling them but decided to reset them and keep a inspiration board on my iPad. My goal is to incorporate them into one pair of fabulous earrings.

That is such great news that you love your ACA studs! I definitely found myself wondering if such an upgrade was truly worth it, but seeing you share that you wish you had done it sooner makes me think that I will share a similar sentiment if and when I take the plunge!

I also debated selling my spare pair(s), but it seems more hassle than it’s worth. I am considering some sort of drop earrings that incorporated both sets of studs, or maybe two pairs of drop earrings with colored stones?

I feel like I should have more options due to the size of the stones, but my creativity is limited, so definitely open to hearing what others have done with “spare” and “lesser quality” diamonds!

If your 3 ctw are prong set, you could have your 1.5 ctw pair set into bezels in a different color metal. Do you always wear the same color metal or do you change it up? Or you could make a toi e moi ring out of the smaller ones if you think they are cut well enough for you to wear as a ring.
If you upgrade to ACA's maybe you could use all 4 of your existing stones in some sort of bangle if you are into bracelets? Just throwing some ideas out there.
