Hi Folks,

Recently engaged (Saturday to be exact). The ring is about a half a size too big (currently a 6 but should probably be a 5.5). Are there any alternatives to resizing? I recall coming across a type of band you can place on the inside of the ring? I''ve searched the FAQs and google but have only come across various re-sizing q''s and not one on resizing alternatives.

Not so concerned about the jewler resizing since they are a family friend but more the chance of my gf''s finger expanding at times because the day I proposed, we had come back from a hike and it fit quite well at that time.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Dave

If you know your jeweler well, it is an easy conversation. To have a local jeweler you can trust solves many problems with jewelry that has nothing to do with prices or quality which is often the only things talked about. If her fingers change up to 1/2 size from week to week or after Mexican food, that is normal. Finding the happy medium of a little tight or a little loose is the way most handle it. You jeweler can explain the pros an cons of sizing balls, sizing bars, butterfly, simple sizing, cheap plastic inserts (hate these but many people love them), or sometimes welding some metal to the inside of the ring. Every ring and finger has a couple options. Good news is with most options, you can try another if the first one does not do the job.

I am going to have sizing beads in mine. I have a 5.5 ring and I really think Im between a 5 and 5.25 but I don't want to size it down becuase sometimes its perfect and slightly tight and the rest of the times it spins and bugs the crap out of me. If I knew Id get it back before this Saturday Id drop it off today. I just don't think itll be done in time.
